Celebrating Dot Day!

In honor of the book, The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds, our school celebrated Dot Day. The students were reminded that they can all make a positive mark in each other’s lives throughout the school year. We can do this by helping each other and treating each other in a kind and caring way. Let’s all “Make our Mark” this year!

Bodytrek Volunteers Needed

Bodytrek is coming to Forest Oaks Elementary March 17-April 17 and we need your help. Bodytrek is a parent/volunteer run program. Without your help, our kids cannot participate.

We must have a minimum number of volunteers each day in order for Bodytrek to open for the day. This is really fun and you will enjoy it! Please consider signing up to volunteer by emailing foespto@gmail.com or by returning the bottom portion of this form.

Bodytrek will be open Tuesdays-Fridays each week beginning March 17. You may volunteer all day or half day. High need days are: Wednesday, March 18-Friday, March 20, and Tuesday, March 24-Friday, March 27. Below is a tentative class schedule for Bodytrek. Please keep in mind that this is a fluid schedule, and there is no guarantee that your child will attend Bodytrek while you are volunteering. Younger siblings may not attend. Thank you!

* Our class will be visiting Bodytrek on March 27th! Please send in the attached flyer if you are interested! 🙂

Opinion Writing

The past 4 weeks we have been learning all about opinion writing. The students are doing a great job creating reasons and evidence to support their opinion. We are beginning the editing process this week. The students chose their own interesting topics. A few of them are… Should students get paid for good grades? Who is the best athlete? Should students have 3-day weekends every weekend?

I can’t wait for you all to see your child’s excellent work!

Welcome Back!

We are having a wonderful start to the new year! I am so thankful for each of you!

Just a reminder… report cards go home this Friday. Please be sure to sign the report card and return all grades.

Parents, thank you so much for all your help in providing the best education possible for your child.

Math Fun!

We enjoyed our class number talk this afternoon! The students are learning greatly from each other’s thinking!

We also enjoyed learning how to add using more than one addend. The students used cubes to help them see how addends can be arranged in different orders and still have the same total.
