The Smith Foundation will begin accepting online applications on Sept. 15. Applicants should be high school seniors who have a record of “giving back” through volunteerism or care of family while overcoming financial and personal challenges. The NACAC College Fair will be Sunday, Sept. 12 from 1-4 pm at the BJCC. More than 130 colleges will be on hand to respond to student questions and share information about what they have to offer. There will also be workshops on Financial Aid, ACT/SAT testing and more. In order to save time on event day, students should register at www.gotomyncf.com and take your registration bar code to the fair. This is a free event!

MHS will be participating in the statewide AL College Application Campaign Week Oct. 31-Nov. 3. This will give seniors the opportunity to get assistance applying to college, writing scholarship/admissions essays, and applying for their FAFSA PIN.
Alabama has a new scholarship program for seniors with a minimum 2.75 GPA and an ACT of 26 or BELOW who demonstrate financial need. The application window is Jan.2 – March 7. Visit http://collegecountsalabama.com/ for more info.
