UM Upward Bound Math & Science Program!

The UM Upward Bound program is excited to offer a new math & science program designed to strengthen the math and science skills of participating students through mentoring, tutoring, and exposure to STEM careers. Upward Bound is offering a one-time fall enrollment for low-income or first-generation college students in grades 9-12 with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Applicants should also have an interest in pursuing a STEM career path. See Ms. Allen for an application. The deadline is Nov. 1.

ACT Prep Camps – U of Montevallo

The Univ of Montevallo will host ACT Prep Camps for sophomores, juniors, and seniors on Oct. 14 and Nov. 18 from 8:30 -4:30 . The cost is $110 and it includes lunch and a snack. Children of UM employees and students who have documented need are eligible for 20% off scholarships. YWEC Scholarship Boot Camp!

Young Women’s Empowerment Conference will host a Scholarship Boot Camp on Sept. 30 from noon-3 p.m. at the University Center on the campus of Samford University. The cost is $25 and students should register at Eventbrite. Students grades 10-12 are invited and you must have a library card. Feel free to take your laptop and spaces are limited. Smith Foundation Scholarship

The Smith Foundation will begin accepting online applications on Sept. 15. Applicants should be high school seniors who have a record of “giving back” through volunteerism or care of family while overcoming financial and personal challenges. NACAC Fall College Fair – Sept. 17

The NACAC College Fair will be Sunday, Sept. 12 from 1-4 pm at the BJCC. More than 130 colleges will be on hand to respond to student questions and share information about what they have to offer. There will also be workshops on Financial Aid, ACT/SAT testing and more. In order to save time on event day, students should register at www.gotomyncf.com and take your registration bar code to the fair. This is a free event!
