If you were absent today, please come see me or ask a buddy about how to set up your paper. We started the planning process.

Today’s Agenda & Assignments:

  • Take final ATTWN quiz.
  • Begin planning paper.
    • Choose a character. You may NOT use Mr. or Mrs. Rogers or Anthony Marston. You may only use Mr. Blore with permission.
    • On the back side of your paper, title it “So What?” and respond to the following questions about the character you have chosen.
      • What do you understand about your character already?
      • How did you feel about your character when you first met him/her in the book?
      • How did you feel about him/her by the time you finished the book?
      • What do you think the author wanted you to understand about people based off your character?
    • On the front side of your paper, divide it into 2 sections: Appearance and Reality.
      • In the Appearance section, write one piece of evidence that shows something positive or good about your character.
      • In the Reality section, write two pieces of evidence that show something negative, the truth, about your character.
    • All three pieces of evidence should look like this: context + quote + page number
      • Example: When Vera and Lombard are on the beach, he tells her he knows her motive was because “a man was involved” (Christie 273).

Tonight’s Homework:

  • Finish finding and writing down your three pieces of evidence.

Friday, December 1st

Today’s Agenda & Assignments:

  • Get quotes checked for a completion grade. *If you were absent today, make sure I see your quotes on Monday.
  • Begin typing first paragraph. Look in Google Classroom for the template. You will type the first paragraph of your paper on this template. Your first paragraph includes a topic sentence, your piece of evidence/direct quote about your character’s appearance, and your explanation of that evidence. For your explanation, prove to me why that quote shows the positive side of your character–think positive traits (innocent, trustworthy, kind-hearted, etc.)

Tonight’s Homework:

  • Finish typing your first paragraph by Monday. See me Monday morning if you need help.
