Field Day 2013 was AWESOME! And BIG props to the Blue Team who had classes place in the top 4! 2nd – Green’s Narwhols, 3rd – Smith’s Cookie Monsters, and 4th – Higg’s #swag! And I’m pretty proud of my 4th period who showed their strength in 3 tug-of-war competitions but came in 2nd when they lost to the champs (Mr. T’s class) in the finals! It was a great day!

Social Studies: Complete the Benchmark Study Guide tonight (in upload section if you need it)…write something for each bullet point. The Benchmark Test is Wednesday! Your Social Studies textbooks are also due on Wednesday, AND I’ll be checking your notebooks one LAST time on Wednesday too! I’ll specifically be looking for the Ch. 31-32 Table of Contents and the Presidential Portrait Pages (Nixon-Obama).

Science: Finish #1-10 of the Study Guide tonight. The Benchmark Test is Friday & your notebooks are due that day too!

Social Studies: We took the Chapter 30 Test today. If you were absent, you will need to plan to take it during Advisory soon. Tonight, finish the Chapter 31-31 Vocabulary words on pages 228-229 (number, highlight, define): 1.balance of power 2.embargo 3.impeachment 4.amnesty 5.human rights 6.apartheid 7.Glasnost 8. line item veto 9.global warming 10.terrorism

Science: IF you had more research to do on your ocean creature, you must do that tonight and let me re-check your rough draft tomorrow. If your rough draft was complete, you may go ahead and write the “final copy” on the right had side of the paper. IF you did not finish your ocean creature today, plan to come early in the morning (7:20am). We will present them tomorrow in class.

Tomorrow is our 1960′s Dove/Hawk Day! Come as a groovy hippy Dove or an ultra-patriotic Hawk!

Social Studies: Finish the vocabulary illustrations on pages 210-213. (Fill in the spaces and color!) The Vietnam Veteran Memorial “brick” assignment is due Wednesday. Science: DSQ Quiz #1-10 Chapter 14..tomorrow! Chapter 14 Test is Wednesday. Finish the Study Guide tonight. Ocean Creature supplies are due in class tomorrow.

*We had quite a few students absent today. Please try to work on assignments as much as possible while you are out so you won’t have so much make-up work to do.

Social Studies: Vocabulary illustrations are due tomorrow for the following words only: (All on p. 210 in notebook) guerilla warfare, hotline, exile (the Cubans that fled to America), blockade, & flexible response (Green Beret is an example of this) The Vietnam Map is also due tomorrow (see SS Upload if you were absent) – use p. 886 in your textbook for help. Also add: Color North Vietnam RED & South Vietnam BLUE!

Science: Finish the Intertidal Zone Guided Reading if you did not finish today in class.

Social Studies: Color the Ch. 30 Title Page (make it GROOVY!), and complete the first two columns of all FOUR vocabulary pages!! Do NOT do any illustrations until we have discussed the topic & I officially assign them, otherwise you will be redoing the entire thing…trust me. If you are absent, please try to download and begin working on tonight’s homework if possible. (See the Upload section)

Science: No Homework. I’ll give you a few minutes at the beginning of class tomorow to finish your Ocean Food Web.

Social Studies: Complete the Ruby Bridges questions on p. 201 & illustrate a scene from the movie at the bottom of the page…YES, you need to color! Also, read p. 844-847 in your textbook and answer the Guided Reading 29-2 Questions that you glued in on p. 207. (Check the SS Uploads section for the worksheet.)

Science: Complete the Ch 14/Section 1 Guided Reading page, and the Chapter 14 Ocean Zones title page…divide into 3 sections, label each with the title of the chapter sections, and add a colored illustration for each.
