Any 6th or 7th graders interested in wrestling next season, need to sign up with Coach Butler during your P.E. classes.

Congratulations to our Math Teams: 7th gr got 3rd place, 8th gr got 3rd place and Algebra 1 got 2nd place at the County Tournament. Congratulations to Jay Chin, who finished 2nd in the county and Sam Borkert, who scored the highest on the written exam for all 6th graders in the Shelby County Math Competition Tuesday at Calera High School.

Attention 8th gr girls- If you are interested in attending “Girls Can Construction Camp” this summer, come by the counselors’ office to pick up an application. This is a hands – on camp featuring drafting, welding, electrical, carpentry and other construction specialties and is sponsored by Alabama Power. Deadline to apply is April 30

This week, April 21 – 25, ChMS PTO is sponsoring a spare change fundraiser. Bring in your spare change each day and help your grade level win.
Today’s winner will have popcorn day on Thursday
Thursday’s winner will get to leave early for OC on May 9
Friday’s winner will be the overall winner for the week – the class who gives the
most change for the entire week – and will get extra time at OC on May 9
Look for your grade’s collection container located in the cafeteria or gym before school each morning this week.

Any 6th or 7th grade girls who might be interested in trying out for the dance team need to see Coach Nivens or Coach Burdette for a packet. No experience is necessary. All requirements will be taught at the tryout clinic next week. Minimal experience is required to tryout for majorettes as well since all material is taught at the clinic. If cheerleading is usually your thing, but you like the dances, then you may enjoy dance team…if you tried out for cheer, we already have your physical and report card!! We would love to have a big team, so we hope to see a big group at tryouts April 28-May 2!! See the Starlets blog for more information or talk to Coach Nivens or Coach Burdette

The Starlets Dance Team and Majorettes will be hosting a Spirit night at Dairy Queen in Chelsea next Thursday, May 1st, from 4:30-8:30. Drop by and grab dinner and the Starlets will receive a portion of the proceeds. There will be donation buckets around the restaurant for additional “tips” as well. Please support the Chelsea DQ and our own CHMS Starlets!! Tell the Starlets representatives working the event who your favorite girl trying out is and she could win a prize!!!

If you are interested in being STING, the ChMS mascot, next year, information and applications can be picked up in the main office. If you have any questions, see Ms. Cook.

Mark your calendar for these important dates: 8th gr Graduation will be May 22 and
6th and 7th gr Awards Ceremony will be May 23.

If you would like to order one of the new ChMS tee shirts, stop by the office and pick up an order form.

Remember to bring in your “Box Tops for Education”. This helps to raise money for our school. Turn your box tops in to your Math teacher. If you turn in 50 box tops, you will receive a pass to sit where want to during lunch.
