Today in class, we discussed and reviewed the INTRODUCTION (5th period) and CONCLUSION paragraph of essay writing. Students were able to peer edit and revise as weel as meet with Nelson for conferencing.  Please see notes below for introduction and conclusion paragraphs . 

Students understand that they have to conference time with Nelson in order to move on to the next step of the writing process. This help and supports students to understand what they need to improve upon which will help with their grades.

Students have ALL of their writing notes in the writing section of their notebooks. 

HOMEWORK – Work that is not completed in class will be homework. Students remember the due dates below. Conclusion paragraph are due tomorrow for all classes, except 5th period introduction and conclusion paragraphs are due tomorrow.

DUE DATES:

Tuesday, 4/22 – 1st Detail Paragraph (late 60 % Thursday, no credit on Friday)

Wednesday, 4/23 – 2nd Detail Paragraph (late 60 % Friday, no credit on Monday)

Thursday, 4/24 – 3rd Detail Paragraph  (late 60% Monday, no credit on Tuesday) 

Thursday, 4/24 – Introduction Paragraph (late 60% Monday, no credit on Tuesday)

Friday, 4/25 – Conclusion Paragraph (late 60% Tuesdy, no credit Wednesday)

Computer Dates: These are the dates that the students will visit the computer lab to type their final essays. Please note – Final Essays must be written and approved by Nelson before typing out essay in the computer lab. If essays are not completed during computer time. Students will have the opportunity to continue conferencing with Nelson during computer time. We will visit the computer lab on the following dates: 4/28, 4/30, 5/8, and 5/9. May 9th is the final date for essays to be turned in typed. If not typed there will be a 25% deduction.  No Exceptions

Today in class, we completed a skill activity on the four different types of sentences. We also discussed and began to write our 1st detail paragraph of our our essay writing.  During class, students were given time to proofread and revise their braindumps and  umbrella graphic organizers in class that have to be approved and graded before moving to the next part of the writing process.

Homework – Complete detail paragraph #1. Students that did not get their braindumps or organizers approved need to continue to proofread and revise what they are working on in order to complete the essay writing process.

Today in class, we discussed and reviewed brain dumps that were completed in class and for homework. During class, students were given time to proofread and revise their braindumps that have to be approved before moving to the next part of writing. Attached is the umbrella organizer.

Homework – Complete umbrella graphic organizer. Students that did not get their braindumps approved need to continue to proofread and revise for tomorrow.

Today in class, we began the essay writing process. Topic – ***3 favorite things that I like to do.*** We are begininng with a brain dump. Attached below is how your homework should be set up which was also given in class. 10 point deduction if not. We also continued reviewing everyday language arts strategies of punctuation, grammar, spelling parts of speech, etc.

HOMEWORK – Complete your brain dump. Review all notes for skill activity quick check.

Today in class, we discussed and continue spring break writing paragraphs. We should be finished with sharing everyone’s by Thursday.  Also, as a class we discussed daily skill activity assessments. The skill assessments will be given as a bell ringer 2-3 times a week of information that we have already learned this entire school year.  We will do the skill activities as we continue the writing process for the remainder of the year. BE PREPARED for class daily!!!

HOMEWORK – Review all parts of speech and ALL notes daily in the the regular notes sections of your notebook. Be prepared for your daily activity everyday!!!

Things to remember when getting an admission to the training school
