On Tuesday, March 20th, Helena High School will administer the ACT to all 11th grade students.  For all other students in grades nine, ten, and twelve, an E-Day (electronic learning day) has been approved by the Shelby County Board of Education. See details below

  • On March 20th, students in grades nine, ten, and twelve will receive all of their classroom instruction and assessments online, through the Google Classroom platform, and will be required to complete these assignments while at home.  The assignments will be posted to Google Classroom by the end of the school day on March 19th. Teachers will clearly communicate their timeline for students turning in their E-Day assignments.
  • Students in grades nine, ten, and twelve should not come on campus on March 20th; however all 11th grade students must be present on the 20th to take the ACT.  For 11th graders, they should report to school by the normal start time of 8:10 am. Once ACT testing is completed for the day, school is dismissed for 11th grade students.

April 11 is the next late start day for the 2017-18 school year for all Shelby County high schools.  At HHS, the bell will ring at 9:00 and 1st period begins at 9:10 a.m.  The building will open at the normal time of 7:30 a.m. and buses will follow the normal pick up and drop off schedule.  Dismissal is at the regular time of 3:22 p.m.

Since we are located directly across from Helena Middle, our goal is to alleviate traffic concerns and provide an easier flow.  Students are allowed to enter the student hall through the gym entrance at 7:30 a.m.  They are not allowed in the building more than 30 prior to the 1st bell without an express purpose or prior permission.  The first bell rings at 8:00 a.m.  At this time, students are released from the student hall to go to lockers and 1st period.  1st period begins at 8:10 a.m.  School dismisses at 3:22 p.m.  The main office hours are 7:15 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. during the school year.
