6TH GRADE MATH TEAM

Thanks to the generosity of HMS parents and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, our first Makerspace project for a Silhouette Cameo cutting machine was fully funded and we have already received the machine!
Our parents have been so generous that we had extra donations made above and beyond the amount requested for our first project.
Therefore, we have created our next project for our Makerspace on donorschoose.org. Our next project is called Capturing our Creativity: Using Video Production in our Makerspace. Through this project, we are requesting a video camera, external microphone, green screen, and video lighting kit so that students can create and edit amazing videos. We already have a tripod and we might be getting a computer donated for video editing purposes (fingers crossed!).
Through previous donations, we already have $100 applied to this project. We need an additional $497 for it to be fully funded. If 25 families donated $20, our second project for our Makerspace would be fully funded!

GIRLS AND BOYS TENNIS TRYOUTS
Tryouts for the girls and boys tennis team will take place October 11 through October 14 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Joe Tucker Park. Once again, Shelby County Schools has been given the opportunity to offer our students the flu vaccine as provided by HNH Immunizations, Inc., which is an Alabama based vaccine provider. They will be offering the flu vaccine injection only. The vaccine is provided without deductibles or co-pays, and HNH handles billing Medicaid, BCBS (non-PEEHIP), ALL Kids, etc.
Our clinic will be held at Helena Middle School on October 18 from 1:30-2:30. All Helena School clinics will be offered that day. Information and consent forms will be sent home on Friday, Sept. 30 and are due back no later than October 14th.
Students covered by PEEHIP insurance cannot participate in the HNH flu vaccine clinics. Those students will be offered the flu vaccine by the Alabama Department of Public Health during the vaccine clinic offered for teachers and dependents.
