Posted by Heidi Sheehan on February 6th, 2014

Ever wonder where all the creative images spelling out “Google” on their search page come from?
Well, one place is the annual Google Doodle competition for students in grades K-12.

Please spread the word to all your talented students. Principals, please post on list serve to parents.

The closing date for entries is March 20th.

See some past winner’s designs here: http://twistedsifter.com/2012/05/top-50-google-doodle-contest-winners-gallery/

Welcome to the 2014 Doodle 4 Google competition
Use the links at the top of the page to learn more: https://www.google.com/doodle4google/
Before there was an airplane, there were doodles of cool flying machines. And before there was a submarine, there were doodles of magical underwater sea explorers. Since the beginning of time, ideas big and small, practical and playful, have started out as doodles. And we’re ready for more. One talented young artist will see his or her artwork on the Google homepage and receive a $30,000 college scholarship and a $50,000 Google for Education technology grant for his or her school.

Posted by Heidi Sheehan on January 10th, 2014

In order to increase our reading capabilities, students will be required to complete 5 “quizzes” on http://www.readtheory.org periodically. The first ReadTheory.org report is due on Friday, January 17th. Students are receiving handouts during class today, but I am attaching a file as well (just in case their paper is “misplaced.”).
