Wednesday

iamscoutVocab test taken…grades were either extremely high or extremely low. Few “in between” grades. Definitely shows me who studied! πŸ™‚Β

Put vocab books up until January. The rest of November and the short time we have in December before Christmas break will be nothing but grammar and Romeo and Juliet.Β  (No projects for the rest of the semester either!) No homework tonight—journals due on Friday, but that’s it.

I’m reading a really interesting bookΒ named I Am Scout: The Biography of Harper Lee by Charles J. Shields.Β  I’m learning a lot about Harper Lee that I did not know. It’s reawakened my interest in Monroeville, Alabama…and the small town personality…

What are you reading on your own just for fun?

  3. Dear Ms. Culver,

I’m so glad you’re reading I Am Scout and enjoying it. Here are some of my favorites, I would recommend them to any student in your class: Hatchet by Gary Paulsen; The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury; The Lord of the Flies by William Golding; and Catherine, Called Birdy by Karen Cushman.

All the best to you and your students,

    Charles J. Shields
