About Mrs. Milstead

Mrs. Milstead

Hello! I’m so glad that you stopped by our school’s library blog. My name is Jennifer Milstead and I am the Library Media Specialist at EHES. This is my 12th year teaching at Elvin Hill. I love being our school’s librarian! I am thrilled to have the privilege to work with our K-5 students, teaching them to love reading, learning, and technology as much as I do!

In 2003, I graduated from Northeast Alabama Community College with an Associate’s degree in Science. From there, I attended Athens State University and earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education in 2005. I was hired as a 4th grade teacher in 2006 at EHES. I graduated in May 2010 from the University of West Alabama with my Master’s degree in Library Media. I was hired January 2012 as my school’s Library Media Specialist.

I think I was always meant to be a teacher and a librarian. I was born on August 16th and raised in Fort Payne, Alabama. My father was a mail carrier and my mother was a teacher; I grew up surrounded by books! My parents still live in the same little brick house that I grew up in, nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Now I live in Calera, AL with my husband, Brian, and our cat, Loki. And yes, I’m still surrounded by books! 🙂

If you ever need me, please feel free to email me at or call my library office at 682-6624.

Happy reading!
Jennifer Milstead
