Students at Helena Intermediate School come to music class once a week for 30 minutes. In music, students sing, play instruments, move listen to, analyze, describe, and evaluate a variety of music from around America and around the world.
Fourth and Fifth grade students will begin using recorders in weekly music classes. Recorder instruction is an important part of the music curriculum for grades four and five. Playing recorder helps students develop better musicianship and note-reading skills.
As recorder specialist Artie Almeida says, “Oh, humble little recorder: How (and why) do I love thee? Let me count the ways.”
2. Motivational to young students
3. Powerful notational instructional tool
4. Lots of bang for the buck!
Recorders are available for purchase in the music room for $7.00. Checks are payable to Helena Intermediate School. We use Yamaha soprano recorders, which are available in green, blue, pink and ivory.
