CaMS Guidance

Respecting Ourselves and Others – Making Good Choices!

Guidance Events 2015-16

Our focus at the beginning of the year will be on study skills. Classroom teacher and classroom guidance will focus on skills such as test taking, binder and locker organization, and notetaking to help students get off to a great start academically this year. Sixth grade students will also have a guest speaker from SafeHouse at the end of the month to speak on bullying behavior and also appropriate skills for conflict resolution.

In October, we will of course celebrate Red Ribbon Weeek which encourages a drug/alcohol/tobacco free lifestyle for everyone. We have several activites planned and guest speakers for each grade level.

In November a representative from SafeHouse will conduct a six-week program with our eighth grade students that has been very successful in past years. The program focuses on building positive relationships and also on appropriate ways to deal with bullying behavior in relationships.

We are excited to announce that we will have our first Career Fair in the spring for all grade levels. We want to encourage our students to be prepared for college/career by offering an opportunity for them to visit with and ask questions of adults in careers that the students may be interested in. More information on this event will be distributed as the date approaches.

The date has been set for our first CaMS career fair – Tuesday, January 17. We have many representatives from various careers participating, so we hope that all will find it an informative and enjoyable experience.
