MHS News 12/15/2015

Students parking on campus need to be aware that you must have a parking permit and you must park in the dedicated space. Failure to follow these instructions will result in your parking privileges being denied and your auto towed at your expense!

Yearbooks are currently on sale for $40. Only 100 yearbooks will be sold, so purchase your yearbook soon. See Ms. Adams in room 115 to buy one today.

Semester exams begin TODAY . Students are not exempt from being at school this week. All students must be present and may check out after testing at the appropriate times. (if no test, be present until 9:20 checkout)

Wed.: 2nd period & 6th period

Thurs.: 3rd period & 8th period

Fri.: 5th period & make-up

Wrestling will have their first home meet TONIGHT at 6:00 in the Gym. They will be hosting Helena and Shelby County High Schools. Admission will be $5.00 and concessions will be available. Come show your support to the wrestling team!

*All Mrs. Whitson’s classes will meet in the computer lab by the library today. Make sure you bring your slide worksheet.
*Attention Students: HICA will be sponsoring a College Readiness Workshop for Spanish-speaking
students and parents TONIGHT night. The program will begin at 5:00 p.m. in the PAC. The entire presentation will be delivered in Spanish.
*Seniors: Please make plans for you and your parents to attend our Financial Aid Night TOMORROW night at 6:30 in the PAC. Important information will be shared regarding FAFSA completion and financial aid resources. Don’t miss it!
*The Battle of the Books selection test will be TODAY .
*Winter Semi-Formal will be December 12th at Reynolds on the University of Montevallo campus from 7:00-11:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person. The money raised will go toward research for Cystic Fibrosis. TODAY is the deadline to purchase tickets . See Mrs. Glover for more information.

*Attention Students: The Shelby County College and Career Center applications for the 2016-2017 school year. are due back to Ms. Allen by TODAY.
*Attention Students: HICA will be sponsoring a College Readiness Workshop for Spanish-speaking
students and parents tomorrow night. The program will begin at 5:00 p.m. in the PAC. The entire presentation will be delivered in Spanish.
*Seniors: Please make plans for you and your parents to attend our Financial Aid Night Thursday at 6:30 in the PAC. Important information will be shared regarding FAFSA completion and financial aid resources. Don’t miss it!
*The Battle of the Books selection test will be TOMORROW .
*Winter Semi-Formal will be December 12th at Reynolds on the University of Montevallo campus from 7:00-11:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person. The money raised will go toward research for Cystic Fibrosis. TOMORROW is the deadline to purchase tickets . See Mrs. Glover for more information.
*Juniors : Josten’s will be in the cafeteria TOMORROW before school to deliver class rings! Cash, money order, credit/debit cards are accepted but not checks. Every student has received an email with their balance due and a link to pay online. If anyone has questions please contact Josten’s.
*Juniors and Seniors: A representative from the Marine Corps will be in the library during 7th period TODAY to share with students about a unique scholarship program for students wanting to attend college. Interested students should be sure to attend.

*Congratulations to our boys and girls basketball team for their first area win over holy family last night. The boys are now 7-0. Also, congratulations to our 6th man on the court “the student section”. You were great last night.
*There will be National Art Honor Society meeting TODAY at 3:10 in the Art room. We are discussing a Christmas project to work on over the next few weeks.
*Students, remember to get your forms signed for you November Community Service hours. The November service hours are due TODAY
*Attention Students: The Shelby County College and Career Center is now accepting early bird applications for the 2016-2017 school year. Applications can be picked up from the Guidance Office and are due back to Ms. Allen by Tuesday, Dec. 8. Remember that you must complete PE Life, Career Preparedness, and Health prior to next school year in order to be considered.
*Juniors and Seniors: Please remember that you now have an opportunity to participate in a new county-wide job shadowing program. You simply need to stop by the Guidance Office to complete an appointment request to meet with the Career Coach who is available every other Tuesday at MHS.

*Congratulations to our Montevallo Bulldogs on their win last night against Calera. Boys Jv, Girls Varsity, and Boys Varsi-ty won all 3 games. Also, Coach D would like to thank the student section for coming out and supporting with so much energy. Next game will be tonight. The bulldogs will play their first area game against Holy family. We need everybody to show up and support your Dawgs.
