Pep rally TOMORROW. The theme is “tackle the tigers” so wear your favorite jersey!

12. This is a great opportunity and you will get more information in your History classes.

Attention Seniors: Senior Parent Night TONIGHT at 6pm in the PAC .

Seniors: The first edition of the Senior Newsletter will be made available at Senior Parent Night. Students will be able to pick up a copy from the Guidance Office or Library beginning Friday.

Homecoming shirts are on sale through your grade level HC Sponsors through Tuesday September 5th. Cost is $10. (See yesterday’s announcement)

Juniors and Seniors: MHS still needs to nominate 2 juniors and 4 seniors for participation the Youth Leadership Development Program. YLDP participants should be students of high character who desire to impact the community through leadership. Monthly meetings are required and there are exclusive scholarship opportunities. See Ms. Allen by Sept. 5 if you would like to be considered.

Attention Juniors: If you are a socially conscious student leader who desires to engage in hands-on experiences meant to enhance your community, then Youth Leadership Shelby County needs you. YLSC is a 6 month program that begins with a mandatory retreat in Nov. See Ms. Allen for an application. Space is limited.

Attention Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentors: The training scheduled for Thurs., Sept. 7 at 11:45 is required for both new and returning Bigs. Students who believe they cannot be present should let Ms. Allen know in advance.

The Alabama 4-H Shelter Dog Training Project is seeking SC teens to train adoptable Sc Humane Society dogs basic obedience commands to help them get adopted. If you are interested see Mrs. Glover.

*Senior Future Teachers will meet with Mrs. Cabrera TOMORROW during GPS.
*For any student who is still interested in joining the trip to Costa Rica this summer, we will have a final meeting TODAY in room 203 at 5:30. This will be the last opportunity for students to sign up for the trip! See Coach Cooley if you have any questions.
*Soccer tryouts for the 2018 season are coming up. Girls tryouts will be August 24 and 25 at 5:30 PM and boys will be August 28 and 29 at 3:30 PM. Both will be held at the soccer fields at Orr Park. For more information see the flyers posted around school or speak with Coach Cooley.
*Students interested in representing their class as part of the Homecoming Court need to get a registration packet from Mrs. Fricke, room 115. The packet and registration fee are due by August 25.
*There will be a back to school dance this Friday from 7-10 in the cafeteria. Admission is $5.00 and concessions will be sold. Please come out and have fun with your friends.
*Attention Recent Big Brothers Big Sisters Applicants: Interviews for the program will be held this Friday during GPS. You will get appointment cards indicating your time to report to the library. Mandatory training will be held on Monday, Aug. 21 from 3:15-4:00. Training is only required for new Bigs.
*There will be a Sophomore Homecoming meeting Thursday during GPS in Mrs. Gothard’s room 114. Any 10th grader interested in planning and decorating for homecoming should attend Thursday’s meeting during GPS.
