Today is the deadline to register for the Young Women’s Empowerment Conference Scholarship Boot Camp for students in grades 10-12 on Sept. 30 at Samford University. You can find more info on Ms. Allen’s blog.

Students: Do you need help mastering the ACT? If so, the University of Montevallo has ACT Prep Camps scheduled for Oct. 14 and Nov. 18. Check out Ms. Allen’s blog for cost and registration info.

School picture orders are due October 4th

There will be an interest meeting for wrestling on Thursday night at 6 pm in the school cafeteria.

First Priority wants to “See You at the Pole” in the morning @ 7:20

Ring orders will be taken Thursday morning 7:15-8:00 in the school cafeteria.

There will be a second chance tryout for the softball team on Saturday, October 14 for any girls that could not make it to the first date. The tryout will be from 8:00-10:00 AM at the softball field. Once again you must have a physical and consent form turned in before you can tryout. This WILL BE the last tryout. Girls that already made the team DO NOT need to tryout again. Any questions see Coach Niven or DuBose.

Congratulations to both Grayson Fulmer and Miranda Martin for competing in the Caesar Chess Birmingham Challenge held on Saturday, September 23rd. Out of twenty-two participants in their category, Grayson won the 3rd place trophy and Miranda finished 7th place. Also the MHS Chess Club would like to recognize Uriel Alvarado for finishing 7th at the Back-to-School Chess Meet held in August.

Save the Date: Saturday, October 14th is National Chess Day. To celebrate, Brookwood Village and Caesar Chess are hosting the Scholastic Chess Tournament at the Brookwood Village food court area. Early registration is $20. Trophies will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners and medals to 4-6th place. For more information, see Mrs. Hinton to get your entry form.

Tickets to watch the HC VB tournament are only $1 and for sale at lunch! Don’t miss out on watching the grade levels compete with each other and also against a talented faculty team!!!

The HC Volleyball Tournament from last week is scheduled for this Friday! We need to have at least
6 players per grade level in order to have the tournament. If we don’t have enough participation, we
will not be able to have the tournament and it will be a regular school day. Players must pay $3 to
their grade level HC sponsor and bring in a permission form by TOMORROW in order to play. If
players are playing in the HC Dodgeball Tournament they can pay $5 for both tournaments.

Then Destination Imagination is the club for you! There will be an interest meeting for Destination Imagination this Wednesday, September 20th, after school from 3:15 – 4:15 in Mrs. Gothard’s room 114.

Bulldogs @ American Christian tonight 7pm Come out and support the DAWGS!

If you plan on participating in Powderpuff as a player, coach, or cheerleader, please see Coach Niven starting Thursday to pay your $5 participation fee. You will also need a participation permission/release form signed as well. You can get those from Coach Niven or your Grade Level HC Sponsor. If you signed up to play in the Dodgeball and Volleyball Tournaments during Homecoming Week, you need to pay your Grade Level HC Sponsor $3 for participation in each tournament or $5 if you play in both.
