MHS News 2/27/2018

FCCLA will host FCCLA night @ Texas Roadhouse, TONIGHT from 4-9PM. Come show your support!!!!! Every meal counts.

FREE ACT math tutoring this Sunday from 2-4 in Mrs. Cabrera’s room. ALL juniors are welcome.

Cheerleading tryouts for next year will be held March 12-16. Anyone interested in trying out will need to attend a mandatory parent information meeting on March 1st at 6pmin the PAC.

Prom is March 17th @ the Embassy Suites Hoover. Tickets on sale for $50 per person/ $85 per couple. For questions see Mrs. Carter.

Freshmen and Sophomores: Write Your Way Out will meet THURSDAY in the library during 4th period.

Attention Seniors: Remember that THURSDAY is considered the priority deadline for FAFSA completion. Students who complete their FAFSA applications after this date could potentially only qualify for half of the financial aid available.

Attention Students: Ms. Allen is conducting the course selection process for 2018-2019 this week. Remember to submit your course selection forms by March 23. You can email Ms. Allen with any questions you may have.

Attention Young Ladies: Are finances hindering you getting a prom dress? If so, the YWCA is hosting Prom Palooza on March 17 as a way of helping high school girls get a prom dress for free. You can find more information on Ms. Allen’s blog and she must register you for the event.

Attention Students: If you want to be considered for CTech next year, you must submit your completed applications to Ms. Allen by March 8.

10th & 11th graders – Do you like helping other people? Want to make a difference in our school, our community, and the world around you? Consider Peer Helpers as an elective for next year. You must have a completed and approved application in addition to signing up on your course selection form. See Ms. Pastor for applications

Congratulations to the Destination Imagination team Illuminus 5 for placing 2nd at the Central Regional Tournament in the fine Arts category Change of Tune. You can see Janie Gray, Miranda Martin, Jazmine Williams, Alyse Jones, and Reagan Fox’s original musical performance on the Montevallo Connection Facebook page. Congratulations ladies!

Today is the last day to turn in your ticket stub with a parent note in order to be excused if you attended the game on Monday.

Senior cap and gown picture orders, then and now pictures, and senior quotes are due TOMORROW to Mrs. Fricke, room 115.

Congratulations to the girls soccer team for their 2-1 win over Childersburg last night.

TONIGHT FCCLA will be hosting a fundraiser at TEXAS ROADHOUSE in Pelham. See Mrs. Carter or any FCCLA member for a flyer. The flyer must be present either electronically or in person in order to receive credit. Spread the Word!!

Attention National Art Honor Society members: there will be a brief mandatory meeting at the beginning of 4th period GPS. You must attend if you plan on attending the UM field trip.

Attention Students: There will be a meeting for all 10th and 11th grade GRC students at 11:50 in the PAC today.

Auxiliary Tryouts (Majorettes, Danceline, & Colorguard) begin Wednesday afternoon. you must have your paperwork, physical and money to Mrs. Cabrera or Mrs. Underwood by Wednesday morning.

Congratulations to the model United Nations team who participated in the Alabama Model United Nations conference at the University of Alabama. Riley key and Miriam Hernandez both Myriam Hernandez both won best position papers in their divisions and the whole team did extremely well in the presence of very large schools from throughout the southeast.

Spin Class will meet today & Thursday. Auxiliary (Majorettes, Danceline, Colorguard) clinics are held Feb. 21st – March 1st, Try-outs on March 2nd Track try-outs will be tomorrow at the football field at 3:30

We are still in need of hand sanitizer , Kleenex & disinfectant wipes. If you would like to donate, please drop off at the main office. Thanks to all who have already donated.

The Career Technical Educational Center invites you to attend Open House tomorrow night 2/6 6-7 pm. Prospective students and parents /guardians are invited to learn about the programs and meet the teachers. If you plan to attend CTEC for 2018-19, please attend.
