DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

Happy Birthday: Andrea Perez and next week during Spring Break to Kelmy Lemus, Micah Layton, Nate Akins, Jonathan Dreyer, and Malik Inabinette

Announcements:

*Today we are on COTS schedule

*Volleyball try-outs for 6^th and 7^th grade girls will begin when we return from spring break on Monday, April 4.  All girls interested in trying out must have a consent form and current physical.  See Coach Jett for the forms.

*We will have visitors in the building today from Japan. Please be on your best behavior and welcome them.

*There will be no school next week for Spring Break

*The Cheerleaders are selling Gi Gi’s Cupcakes as a fundraiser.  The orders need to be placed before Monday April 4^th and the cupcakes will be delivered the following week.  See a MMS Cheerleader to place an order.

 

Have a Fantastic Friday and a Safe Spring Break

*There will be no school next week due to Spring Break.

*Please do not schedule any doctor’s appointments or out of town trips during Aspire testing.  Testing will be in the mornings only until lunchtime.  6^th Grade Testing will be on April 11^th and 12^th.  7^th Grade Testing will be on April 13^th, 14^th, and 15^th.  8^th Grade testing will be on April 18^th and 19^th.

*Please be aware that cell phones or any device that makes noise or has the capability of photography is not allowed in the testing rooms. Any student caught with a cell phone in the testing room will have their phone confiscated and possibly sent to the state department for evidence of cheating.  The child’s test can be invalidated as well. All cell phones should be kept in the student’s lockers during testing.

*It is a current school policy that all Apple Watches or any other watches that are capable of getting on the Internet are banned from school.  Students should leave these devices at home during the school day.

*The Central Alabama Food Bank will be at the Boy’s and Girl’s Club on Thursday April 31^st beginning at 8:30am even though this is during Spring Break.

*The MMS Cheerleaders are selling GiGi’s Cupcakes as a fundraiser.  Please see any MMS Cheerleader to place an order.  The orders are due by April 4^th and the cupcakes will be delivered the following week.

*Congratulations to the MMS Math teams in their competition this week.  The 8^th Grade Pre Algebra team won 3^rd place overall.  Vicki Zou came in 3^rd place in the individual competition for the 6^th grade team.

*Congratulations to the 7^th and 8^th grade Scholar’s Bowl teams who were invited to compete in the National Scholar’s Bowl Tournament in New Orleans at the end of May.

*Congratulations to the 2016-2017 MMS Cheerleaders:  Jaden Moody, McKenna Dubose, Morgan Honeycutt, Allie Honeycutt, Asya Sanders, McKenzie Payton, and Kali Yancy

*Congratulations to Miranda Martin for placing 1^st in the Central Alabama Regional Science Fair in the Math and Computer Science division and is being invited to compete in the state competition.

*Congratulations to the student of the week:  Aubrey Moreland.  Last week was Olivia Gilbert and the week before was Vanessa Avalos.

*Congratulations to the athlete for the month of February: Ayiana Race

*Congratulations to the faculty member of the month:  Mrs. Whitt-Wright

*Shelby County Schools has a new free APP that can downloaded from the Apple Store or from Google play.

*Ambassadors need to wear their shirts tomorrow as you will be escorting the students from Japan around.

*Tomorrow will be COTS day so make sure that you have all of your work turned in so that you don’t have to go to intervention COTS.

*The Honor Roll party will be held today at 1:30pm. Teachers please check the list

*Congratulations to the lady dawgs tennis team as they finished their season yesterday with dominating wins.  Emily Anne Smith defeated her Southview opponent 6-5 and all of the girls were victorious in their singles and doubles against Floyd Middle.  Way to go girls!!!

*The Boys Soccer Team has a game today against Calera at home at 5:30pm.

*The Tennis team has a Tri-match at the University of Montevallo at 2pm today.

*Friday will be COTS day so make sure that you have all of your work turned in so that you don’t have to go to intervention COTS.

*Tomorrow will be a pajama day to support the wrestling team.

*The Honor Roll party will be held on tomorrow at 1:30pm.

*Congratulations to the Lady Dawg’s tennis team.  Bella lost a close singles matches against Chelsea 6 – 5  but rallied to win the doubles match  with Emily Anne 6 to 1 .  The team also did a great job against Hueytown where Bella dominated her singles match 6-0 and she and Emily Anne also took the doubles match 6 – 1.  The girls will play their last match of the season vs. both Southview of Tuscaloosa and a Montgomery team.  The tri-match will take place at UM and start at 2pm.  Please come out and support the lady dawgs.

*Congratulations to Vicki Zou for placing third in the individual competition at the county math tournament yesterday.  Also the 8^th grade Pre Algebra Team placed third overall in the county. All of the math teams did well yesterday.  Way to go MMS Math Teams!

*There is no soccer practice today. The girls have an away soccer game at ACA on Tues. The Bus leaves at 4:00- girls may stay after school. The boys will not practice on Tues. There is a home game on Wednesday for the boys soccer team.

Happy Birthday: Wesley Burdett

Announcements:

*Report cards will be given out on Friday

*Math team will practice Wednesday (today) and Friday this week

*The Student Institute Group will be on a field trip today

*The Archery team will compete today

*Scholar’s Bowl Practice will be today after school.  Remember the parent meeting at 4:15pm to discuss the trip to nationals.

*Friday morning at 10:40 the high school football coach (Mr. Wilcox) will meet with all 8^th grade boys interested in trying out for high school football next year.

* We want to congratulate the tennis girls on a good game against Helena yesterday.  Although all our girls played much better, Helena won all of the singles matches.  Bella Fancher and Emily Anne Smith did win their doubles match 6 to 1. The team plays a tri-match on Monday at Greystone against Chelsea and Hueytown.  Go lady dawgs!!!

*The final Student Institute Group field trip will be this Wednesday March 16^th. Participants will check with their teachers for any make up work for that day.  Don’t bring a lunch as one will be provided for you.

 *LOT members don’t forget about the City Council Meeting tonight.

*Report cards will be given out on Friday

*The girls tennis team has played two matches so far- one against Helena where Bella and Emily Anne won their doubles match, but all the players fell short in their singles games.  The girls also suffered losses against Westminster on Friday, but played hard against a very good team.  The team will play again on Tuesday at Riverchase Country Club vs. Helena and then finish their season the following week with a tri-match against Chelsea AWAY on Monday and a tri-match against Tuscaloosa and Montgomery teams at the UM courts on Wednesday.  Come out and support your Lady Dawgs.
