DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

*Announcements:

*If you would like to apply to be a Peer Helper next year, please get a packet from the office or Mrs. Green.  Packets must be completed and returned to Mrs. Green by today.

*Any 6th or 7th grader that is interested in attending soccer workouts in May that has not received a packet, please see Mrs. Thomas.  Packets must be turned in prior to workouts and are due today. Workouts will be every Monday and Wednesday in May.

*8th Grade students who want to apply for the Upward Bound Program need to get their application packets completed and turned into Mrs. Lusco asap. She has to turn them in to the University of Montevallo.

*Today we will be on COTS schedule.  If you owe make up work, you will be assigned Intervention COTS.

*Today the 8th grade will be visiting Montevallo High School in two half day sessions.

*Today is the last day to order yearbooks at $30.00.  Next week they will be $35.00.

*Tomorrow there will be a MMS Chess Tournament for all students and community members.  The Chess Competition begins at 8:30am.

*Next Thursday there will be auditions for the MMS Talent Show.  The cost for auditioning is $5.00.

*There will be no lunch charges beginning May 1st.  If you order extra you will have to pay cash immediately.

*Elective sheets for next year need to be turned into your 4th period teacher by today.  If you choose year long FCCLA, you will be required to be in the FCCLA club.  If you choose year long computers, you will need to be in the FBLA club.  If you do not turn in a sheet, Mrs. Lusco will choose your elective for you and you will not be able to change your elective.

*Twelve students from each grade level have been selected to participate in a Keyboarding Challenge for fast and accurate typing skills. If you received a letter Thursday afternoon in your 7th period class, please come to the library on Wednesday morning, May 3rd, to participate in this Typing Agent competition, when your grade level is announced. Our school will be competing with other middle schools in Shelby County.  The school with the fastest, most accurate scores will receive $6,000 in technology funding.  Individual prizes will be given to the top 3 typists per grade level.  Teachers, please check your email for a list of these students, and please allow them to make up their work
