February Update

January 27, 2016 on 2:36 pm | In Uncategorized | No Comments

It’s difficult to believe that we’ve already been back in school for almost four weeks… WOW!  Your children have done a great job of picking back up with routine and we haven’t missed a beat.  We have two new students in class, Luiza and Kelly.  Everyone has done a wonderful job of welcoming them and making them feel like a part of our family! 🙂

Congratulations to our Character Ed. winners for January: Jarley, Kirby Lane, Christopher, Marti, John Thomas, Leah, and Luiza.  Hats off to these kiddos for their hard work and dedication!

If you haven’t heard your children talking about our Math test starting tomorrow, then you should ask.  We will be taking Part 1 of the Unit 4 Summative Test on Thursday and Friday.  Because it covers SO much material, I decided to split it into two days so that it wasn’t so overwhelming.  We have done everything on this end to prepare them, it’s their job to make sure that they are reviewing at home.  A study guide went home on Monday and we’ve taken a practice test yesterday and today.  We also reviewed the answers for all of the work, so there should be no questions as to what it is I’m looking for.

I’ve also had a conversation with them about better preparing themselves for the Phonics Quiz we have every Friday.  It’s apparent that a lot of students are not reviewing their words during the week.  We played a review game in class today and they seemed to really enjoy it.  I have encouraged all of them to “step it up” for the test this Friday.

KONA Ice is tomorrow, so don’t forget to send your child with money to purchase a drink or their refill cup.  We’re also starting our Coupon Book Fundraiser this week.  Please look for that information to come home on Thursday or Friday of this week!

Dates to Remember:

  • Friday, February 5th: Hat Day (Please wear a hat and bring $1.00 to support our school library.)
  • Monday, February 8th- February 12th: Friendship Gram week (OMIS fundraiser)
  • Friday, February 12th: In-class Valentine’s Party- more information to come
  • Monday, February 15th: No School… President’s Day
  • Tuesday, February 23rd: KONA Ice
  • Thursday, February 25th: Spring Pictures

Our American Village field trip is scheduled for Wednesday, March 9th.  I will be sending home chaperone interest forms as well as student permission forms in the near future.

We had a GREAT first day back to school today… even the kids said so! 🙂  I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas holiday and enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

Our Principal’s Award for Leadership winners for December were Mark and Ashley.  I’m so proud of them and the leadership that they show in our classroom!  I have several students that have already come to me to tell me that they are interested in working toward this award for the Spring.  Good for them for setting goals for themselves!!!

I also want to give a tremendous shout-out for our parents that chaperoned us at Camp McDowell.  They were simply amazing and I truly appreciate the sacrifice they made to make this trip possible.  I believe that all of us will testify that we had the trip of a lifetime and I’m so thankful that this was my first group to take… it will always hold special memories in my heart!

Dates to Remember:

  • Friday, January 8th: Report Cards come home
  • Monday, January 18th: MLK- no school
  • Monday, January 25th- Friday, January 29th: Career Spirit Week… more details to come
  • Thursday, January 28th: KONA Ice

Request: Toward the end of next week, I am going to be doing a simulation with the students related to our Social Studies unit building toward the Revolution and taxes.  I would like to have one giant size bag of plain M & M’s and mini paper cups.  If you would be willing to send that in, please send me an e-mail.  First volunteer wins the prize! 🙂

November 30, 2015 on 5:53 pm | In Uncategorized | No Comments

Like a flash, November has come and gone!  That means that December is upon us and there are THREE weeks left until Christmas Break… say it ain’t so!!!

I want to start by congratulating our November Character Ed. Ribbon winners: Anna, Benny, Trevor, Vicky, Shamiya, John Thomas, Leah, Matthew, and Don.  I’m super proud of their accomplishments!

Next Wednesday marks Ms. Ingram’s last day with our class.  Her work with us has been invaluable and I’m so grateful for her contributions!  Both of us were so pleased that she was able to finish her classroom experience by attending Camp McDowell with the class.  I would LOVE for each of the students to work on a card AT HOME this week and have it in class on 12/3 to show their appreciation.  I’m out on Friday and I really want to be a part of the “send off” for Australia.  She has been so touched by each of your children and I know she will carry a special place in her heart when she makes her trek around the world!

Dates to Remember:

  • Tuesday, December 1st: KONA Ice
  • Thursday, December 3rd: Holiday Choir Performance
  • Monday, December 7th- Wednesday, December 9th: Camp McDowell
  • Thursday, December 10th: Holiday Shop (You’ll have to be extra diligent since we’ll be at Camp McDowell at the beginning of the week.)

  • Friday, December 18th: Last day before Christmas break… school dismisses at 1:00
  • Tuesday, January 5th: Students return from Christmas break

Special Notes

  • Camp McDowell– A student packet will be coming home this Friday in the Progress Folders.  It will have LOTS of important information, so please keep an eye out for it.  Students MUST be dropped off on Monday at 7:10 in the gym.  They will not be allowed to ride the bus and must be transported by a parent.  Pick up time on Wednesday will be at 12:30.  Please be prepared to have a parent pick them up as well as their luggage.  Parents must sign out their own child to go home.  Chaperones will also have an information packet going home in Progress Folders this Friday.
  • “Snack Basket”– We would like to create a “chaperone snack basket” for our wonderful parents that are graciously giving of their time at Camp McDowell.  If you are NOT a chaperone and would like to contribute a snack to this worthy cause, please send it in by this Friday.  Think of anything you’d like to snack on after being outdoors all day! 🙂
  • Christmas Party– Students are being asked to bring in a $5.00 gift card for a card swap.  Girls should bring in a card to swap with girls and boys will be swapping with boys.  They must bring a card in order to participate in the card swap!

October 29, 2015 on 9:43 am | In Uncategorized | No Comments

I want to start by congratulating our Character Ed. winners for October: Bailey, Kirby Lane, Clayton, Simeon, Jimena, Jay, Ashley, Grace, and Jamaal.  I’m very proud of their accomplishments and hard work!

Hats off to our kiddos for reaching their class goal for the school Coin Drive!  Melissa Bailey was instrumental in getting these kids fired up during our daily “vault visits”.  Without this cheerleader, I’m not sure we would have made it. 🙂  Not only did the students win a popsicle party because of their accomplishments; but also, a PJ and movie day… woot-woot!!!

Please remember that our Colonial Trade Day is next Thursday, November 5th.  Your child will be expected to come to school dressed in colonial attire that represents the trade they’ve been researching in class.  We will stay “in character” all day as the speeches will be that morning and the Trade Day rotations will be in the afternoon.  I’m so thankful to those parents who have volunteered to help out.  Our students are getting really excited about this special day!

Our Camp McDowell trip will be here before we know it!  With that in mind, I sent out reminder e-mails yesterday to everyone about what forms or payments were still outstanding.  If there is anything you have a question about, please let me know and I’ll try to track down the information.

Dates to Remember:

  • Thursday, November 5th: Colonial Trade Day
  • Friday, November 6th: Hat Day (Students may bring $1.00 to wear a hat to school.  The money is used to support our library.)  PJ and movie day to celebrate meeting our class goal for the Coin Drive.
  • Tuesday, November 10th: Vet breakfast to honor those who have served or are currently serving in the military
  • Wednesday, November 11th: Veteran’s Day… no school
  • Thursday, November 17th: KONA Ice
  • Monday, November 23rd- Friday, November 27th: Thanksgiving Break

I hope that everyone continues to enjoy the wonderful Fall weather.  Don’t forget to set your clocks back 1 hour this Sunday!

Things to remember when getting an admission to the training school

Training schools and colleges worth a lot as they provide all the various kinds of training ns material that professional need in order to get ahead of their profession ad contribute at their best. In Australia, people can surely find lots of schools and colleges that offer high quality training options for the students as well as for the professional who looking to enhance their skill for better capabilities.

There are courses like Diploma of Community Services, Certificate III in Information Digital Media and Technology, Diploma of Work Health and Safety, Certificate II in Business and Retail Management Courses as well as the Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management and Aged Care Training schools offering professional diplomas and courses that offer higher level training.

There are many things that you must be keeping mind in order to help yourself getting things better and get the training you need, but the most important things you should never forget are:

You should never enroll or opt to enroll in courses which are wide apart as you will be stuck nowhere and may have to manage things that you are not familiar with. In case if you are likely to get more courses you may consider to have enrolled in courses that you like the most, you should consider having the ones which are related or have similar content in them as well as same level and area of training.

As for example if you are going to attend the Business Management Courses, you should be aware that instead of aged care course you must be looking forward to get to the Diploma Of Business Management.

Further you should know that if you have to get to the top level courses you should not hesitate to enroll in the preliminary courses as they would help you learn things better.
