It has been an exciting time getting to know these kids. I am looking forward to Monday’s competition. Please let me know if you have any questions. If not, I will see you in the Auditorium on Monday by 8:00am!
We had a fabulous win over Helena at our last match on November 18! Congrats!
We will host Chelsea tomorrow (Dec. 2) for our last practice match prior to the County Competition in February. We will continue to practice on Monday afternoons as scheduled.
We will practice on Monday, Nov. 17th and then we will go to Helena to compete on Tuesday.
Parents, please plan on transporting your children from OMMS to Helena Middle. You may pick up in the foyer at 2:30. You do not need to check your child out
The address is: 1299 Hillsboro Parkway, Helena 35080
Our competition at Simmons was fierce yesterday. Unfortunately, our Sixth grade suffered a loss. Better luck next time!
We will continue to practice on Monday afternoons with pick-up at 4:30. Our next competition is on November 18th at Helena. We will plan on using the same dismissal plan around 2:45. My understanding is that since these are academic activities, you are not required to check your child out of school. We do need to know if someone is being transported by an adult other than their parent or guardian. I am working on finding out if there is form that needs to be completed in that circumstance.
We look forward to our match at Simmons tomorrow. The address is 1575 Patton Chapel Road, Hoover 35226. Parents will need to check their child out of school at 2:45 and transport them to Simmons. We will park in the lot to the right of the school when you are looking at the school. This will keep us from getting caught up in the Simmons Bus traffic. They will have students ready to meet us under the small canopy by that lot. Simmons would like to only complete in one game so we should be finished a little early around 4:30 instead of 5:30.
Remember to wear your Scholars Bowl T-shirt.
There will be no Scholars Bowl practice on Monday, October 13th. I forgot that was a Professional Development Day and the students did not have school. We will resume practice on October 20th.
Today, we hosted our first tournament with Pizitz. Each team had only practiced one or two times prior to the tournament. Oak Mountain trailed after the first match, but rallied back to a much closer score in the second match. The win went to Pizitz. Congratulations.
We had a great first practice yesterday. The kids reviewed the rules and procedures for answering Toss Up and Bonus questions and they even competed in a practice match.
Please remember to bring a snack and a drink to practice.
Parents should pick up promptly at 4:30 in front of the school after each practice.
Our first match is a week from today against Pizitz. It is a home match. Parents are welcome to attend. We will meet in my room (A-18).
Check with Mrs. Burdett if you have questions.
