6/7th grade girls are reminded only a few days remain to submit dance applications to Mrs. Howton. Forms can be picked up in the media center or front office and are due March 1!

3. Phase I meets today, 3-4:15 p.m. in A-19.

4. Headed to DC? Your final payment is due to Mrs. Kennedy by March 9.

5. Congratulations to the State Scholars’ Bowl team for making it all the way to the quarterfinals at the state tournament this past weekend.

February 24 Announcements

1. Students who have coupon book orders should bring them to the front office immediately. Thanks!

2. Phase I members are reminded of Monday’s meeting, 3-4:15 p.m. Please remember to wear your shirt and bring three personal toiletry items for the Vineyard Family Services project.

3. Please note only students who have money for the book fair should be excused to the media center during advisory today – otherwise, the media center is closed!

4. 6/7th graders interested in Drama Club should pick up an application from Mrs. Bolt in A-16. Teacher recommendations will be due by March 3, with auditions scheduled for March 7-9.

* Congratulations to our girls’ tennis team who defeated Homewood!
* Good luck to our baseball and softball teams as they prepare for wins this afternoon! Team members may dismiss to the gym after checking in for 7th period attendance.
* Boys playing OMHS soccer have permission to dismiss to the foyer at 1:30 p.m. and wait for dismissal instructions.
* Girls playing OMHS soccer have permission to dismiss to the foyer at 2:30 p.m. and wait for dismissal instructions.
* Good luck to our girls trying out for cheerleader today!

February 17 Announcements

1. Our coupon sellers “rocked” yesterday! While the deadline to be considered for prizes is now passed, we encourage students to continue to sell through next Thursday. Please turn all orders in by Friday, February 24. Students who did not previously receive ice cream vouchers will receive them Tuesday morning. (Due to field trips today.)

2. Publication packets are due to Mrs. Acton today.

3. There is no school Monday due to President’s Day.

4. Good luck is wished to our Show Choirs who head to Homewood for competition today.

5. Good luck is wished to our Robotics teams as they head to the VEX IQ State Qualifier competition at McAdory tomorrow.

6. It’s Game Day at the NS Library – 3:30-5:45 p.m.

February 16 Announcements

1. Way to go coupon book sellers! Yesterday’s returns were the best to date and we appreciate your support! Orders received by 10 a.m. today are still eligible for prizes. We regret that some students will receive “IOU’s” for ice cream vouchers…be on the look-out to receive them soon.

2. 8th grade girls interested in the construction/engineering fields are encouraged to consider attending the “Girls Can” camp this summer, June 5-9, at the Career Center in Columbiana. Forms are available in the front office.

3. 6/7th grade girls interested in dance team are reminded to pick up a packet from Mrs. Howton in the media center or the front office.

4. 7th graders interested in office aide should pick up an informational letter from the front office as
your parent’s signature is required. Letters are due back by the end of the month.

5. The NS Library reminds students that the deadline for the pixel art design challenge is Monday, 2/20. Forms are available in the front office or at www.northshelbylibrary.org

6. There is no school next Monday, 2/20, as we recognize President’s Day.

7. The OMHS cheerleader/mascot informational meeting for rising 9th graders is February 23, 6 p.m. in the high school library. At least one parent must also attend.

8. Mrs. Acton reminds students interested in 2017-18 Publications that try-out information is due tomorrow.

Black History Month…be informed…that Condoleezza Rice, born in Birmingham, became the first African American woman to be U.S. Secretary of State. Secretary Rice was also National Security Advisor from 2001-05.

February 15 Announcements

1. Today is the last day to submit coupon orders and be eligible for the prizes. However, we will continue the sale as we are far behind our goal and need your support! Students who have sold out of town books are asked to see Mrs. Rucker when convenient. Thanks!

2. Eagle Ambassadors are reminded to meet with Mrs. Gilmore tomorrow morning, 7:20 a.m.

3. FBLA members are reminded to report for 7th period attendance and then C-5 today.

4. Broadcast try-out information is due to G-7 today.

5. 8th graders interested in OMHS cheerleading or mascot should plant to attend a parent/athlete meeting, 2/23, 6 p.m. in the OMHS library. Please email bwatkins@shelbyed.org if you have questions.

6. 8th graders interested in 9th grade SGA should report for 7th period attendance and then the media center to meet with Mr. Milton from OMHS.

February 14 Announcements

Eagle Ambassadors will meet this Thursday, 7:20 a.m. in D-5 to discuss an upcoming service project!

2. To date, Art leads the way for the highest percentage of eligible students (638) to coupon book sales (156). The sale continues tomorrow and there’s a good chance Drama can catch up! These books would make a great Valentine’s gift – $25! The sale continues through tomorrow.

3. 8th graders interested in 9th grade SGA at OMHS will meet tomorrow (not today as previously announced) in the Media Center after checking in for 7th period attendance.

4. Valentine Grams will be distributed during 7th period today.

5. Meetings tomorrow morning include First Priority & Chess Club. New students are always welcome to observe Chess and consider joining – meet in D-2.

6. Interested in flight training, emergency services, or an amazing summer activity? If so, consider the Civil Air Patrol Cadet program. An informational meeting will be held Monday, 2/27, 6:30 p.m. at the Bessemer Airport.

2. 6/7th graders interested in 2017-18 Publications should sign up at C-5/C-30. You will need to pick up a try-out packet from Mrs. Acton in C-20 as soon as possible.
