  1. There is no school Monday due to the Labor Day holiday.

 

  1. The deadline to submit your payment for books required for Literature is now 8 a.m. Tuesday,   September 2.

 

  1. SGA reps and officers will meet Tuesday, September 2, 7:20 a.m. in G-7.

 

  1. 7/8th only:

Any student on the elective wheel interested in joining FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) should stop by Mrs. Graham’s room (C5) to sign-up or visit the FBLA blog and leave a message. The FBLA club is responsible for the annual OM sweatpants sale and uses fundraising projects to learn and practice business skills while raising money for various community charities.

 

  1. From Deputy Morgan, OMHS:

 

If you are planning on attending an OMHS football game without a parent, please follow these directions regarding student drop-off/pick-up:

 

  1. Students may be dropped off near the admissions ticket booth, but parents are to pick up at either the playground or in front of the Shelby County Senior Center. Parents should enter at the main entrance of Heardmont when picking students and not use the entrance by the recycle bins and Eagle Club parking.

 

  1. Students will not be allowed to hang out in front of the ticket booth waiting for a ride. Do not park and block traffic in this area waiting for your student.

 

  1. Parents will not be allowed to enter at the entrance by the home stands after the game.

 

  1. Students are not allowed to throw footballs or any other objects in the area behind the home or visitor stands. Items will be confiscated and turned in to Deputy Morgan.

 

Sports news:

 

*              Congratulations to our 7th grade volleyball team for their win over Simmons!

 

*              7th & 8th grade boys interested in trying out for the OMHS freshman soccer team should plan to attend a player/parent meeting on Thursday, September 25, 6-7 p.m. in the OMHS cafeteria. Questions should be related to Coach DeMasters at the high school.

August 29 Announcement

  1. Applications for the chess club are still available from Mr. Dearwent in C-18 or the front office. The first meeting will be Wednesday, September 3, 7:00 a.m. in C-18.

 

  1. Due to the pep rally today, there is no advisory period.

 

  1. Tomorrow is “collegiate spirit wear day” as we anticipate the kick-off of the college football season. Students may wear collegiate spirit wear within the dress code.

 

  1. If you would like to learn sign language, plan to attend classes beginning Tuesday,    September 9, 7-7:40 a.m. in C-8.

 

  1. There is no “game day” tomorrow at the North Shelby Library.

 

  1. Publications students need to stop by Mrs. Acton’s room on the way to lunch for a special treat from our Balfour rep!

August 27 Announcement

  1. It’s not too late to join the chess club! Applications can be picked up from the front office or C-18. The fun begins next Wednesday, 7-7:40 a.m. in C-18.

 

  1. Please note we’ll be on an afternoon activity schedule tomorrow to celebrate 7th graders involved in athletics at a pep rally (XC will be a future date). Wear your OM spirit wear or red, white, or blue!

 

  1. If you’re interested in learning sign language, Mrs. Combs invites you to free lessons beginning Tuesday, September 9, 7-7:40 a.m. in C-8.

 

  1. Book orders for all literature classes are due tomorrow.

August 22 Announcement

  1. All 8th grade Red Team students will meet on C-west during advisory today.

 

  1. Students interested in the Chess Club should submit their applications to Mr. Dearwent, C-18 immediately.

 

  1. Congratulations to our 7th grade football team who defeated Chelsea 6-0, and the 8th grade team who won 34-13!

                The OMHS Eagles invite you to their game against Hazel Green tonight, 7 p.m. Admission is $5.
