May 20 Announcement

1. If you attended Mrs. Nalls’ recent field trip and are missing a pink jacket and/or Alabama lunch bag, please see Mrs. Nalls.

2. Students who wish to purchase a yearbook on Monday, May 23, should bring a $40 payment to C-5. Books will be issued first come, first served.

3. Please submit the white copy of your recognition notice to the office by next Wednesday if you wish to be considered for our fabulous, fun prize drawing on Thursday. You must be present to win!

4. Rising 9th graders who will participate in OMHS track should report to 7th period for attendance and then the gym for a meeting with the coaches.

5. Registration for the summer math camps must be submitted by Wednesday, May 25, to
Mrs. Rucker.

6. Sixth grade awards will be presented Monday, May 23, at a grade level assembly from 7:50-9:40 a.m. Sixth grade field day is from 12:15-2 p.m. Students may not wear PE clothes to school.

Benchmarks Monday include 7/8th grade Social Studies.

May 18 Announcements

1. Yearbooks will be distributed Friday during P.E. to eligible students. No book will be issued to students who have not satisfied their debt with the media center..please take care of unreturned books and fees by tomorrow!
Students going to DC should see Mrs. Graham in C-5 upon return to pick up their book.
Students who still want to purchase a book will be able to do so on Monday, May 23, on a first-come, first-served opportunity…details to come.
Specialty colored Sharpies will also be available for $1 each when you pick up your book! Please avoid disciplinary action by writing only positive comments in friend’s yearbooks.

2. Benchmarks begin tomorrow with Math for all grades.

May 17 Announcement

1. FBLA members are reminded of your meeting today after checking in for 7th period attendance. Please be prompt and report to C-9. Bring your device or report to Mrs. Graham’s room for voting.

2. Please act responsibly to pay any outstanding library fines. 100+ students still owe fines and/or books.

3. Pre-registration documents for OMHS/OMMS 2016-17 should be submitted to the front office before the end of school.

4. It’s time to search the house and car for all textbooks to avoid having to pay for them!

5. DC bound students should check the bus/group lists posted outside B-2 and B-18 for information.

6. 6/7th graders will view the SGA candidate speeches today during 7th period. Voting takes place tomorrow. Good luck to our candidates!

May 13 Announcement

1. It’s Game Day at the NS Library, 3:30-5:45 p.m. The library will host “exam snacks” from Monday, May 16-Wednesday, May 25, offering “brain food” as you study for benchmarks and exams!

2. Today is the final day to submit 8th grade banquet payment.

3. Today is the final day to pre-purchase a yearbook for the May 20th distribution.

4. Looking for things to do this summer? A math camp is planned for all grades (see Mrs. Rucker if you lost attachment previously sent home), art camp – contact for dates, and information on Camp Cosby and the UA speed reading classes are in the front office.

5. Since the library is closed all day, you have until Monday to find lost books and pay fines!

May 12 Announcements

1. 7th graders selected for 2016-17 FRONT OFFICE AIDES should report to the cafeteria after 7th period attendance today for a meeting with Mrs. Rucker.

2. Today is the deadline to submit medications for the 7th grade DC field trip.

3. Students who have outstanding library books or fines should satisfy their obligation immediately to avoid disciplinary action. The library will be closed tomorrow, so please return your book and pay your fine on Monday, May 16!

4. Tomorrow is the last day to purchase a yearbook prior to the distribution on May 20 during P.E. Books will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis prior to school on Monday, May 23.


* The XC athlete/parent meeting is at 5:30 p.m. this evening in the cafeteria. At least one parent must be in attendance.

* Rising 7th and 8th grade boys’ basketball tryouts begin Monday, May 16:
7th grade – 5/16, 18, 19, from 4:30- 6:00 p.m. at OMMS (please go home and then return for tryouts)
8th grade – 5/16, 18, 19, from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. at OMMS (you may stay at school and change in the locker room)

* Any 8th grader interested in trying out for the OMHS baseball team is strongly encouraged to attend summer practices at OMHS. Details on dates and times are available on the OMMS Baseball Blog Official tryouts will be in the fall after the football season ends.

4. Many thanks to all who contributed to “Casual for a Cause.” The Burrough’s family is grateful!

5. Yearbooks are still available for sale for $40 – no waiting list. If you plan to buy a book please do so by this Friday to receive on May 20. Please bring payment with name to either the front office or C-5. No books will be sold after this Friday’s purchase deadline until after books have been distributed on May 20th. Then, beginning Monday, May 23rd, any remaining books will be sold beginning at 7:30 at Mrs. Graham’s room.

Yearbooks will be distributed during PE, Friday, May 20th. Students absent that day will receive their book upon their return. See Mrs. Graham in C5 to obtain your book. A limited number of permanent markers in a variety of colors will be available for sale for $1.00 that day as well.


* Cross-country members are reminded of your athlete/parent meeting tomorrow, 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.

* There is no FCA meeting tomorrow. The final meeting will be next Thursday, May 19.

May 10 Announcements

1. 8TH graders are reminded to submit your OMHS Relay for Life forms to the front office by tomorrow.

2. 7th graders selected for FRONT OFFICE aides for 2016-17 should plan to meet with Mrs. Rucker in the cafeteria this Thursday after 7th period attendance.

3. First Priority will meet tomorrow morning, 7:15 am. in the choral room.

4. Chess Club meets tomorrow morning, 7:15 a.m. in D-2.

5. Students running for SGA who HAVE NOT recorded a speech should come by B-4 today after checking in for 7th period attendance.

6. Casual for a Cause is tomorrow! For a $1 donation to benefit Coach Burrough at OMHS, students will be allowed to wear more casual attire. SGA members will greet you at the front door, C-hall bus entrance, and cafeteria to collect donations and give you appropriate authorization to be casually attired.

7. Outstanding library books are now past due. Please avoid additional fines and disciplinary action by turning in your books ASAP!

8. Mrs. Graham is accepting payments to reserve a yearbook on a wait list through Friday. Please submit your $40 payment with name on check to the front office or Mrs. Graham, C-5. Yearbooks will be distributed on May 20. Please respect the property of others and refrain from writing or drawing inappropriate comments. Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action and you will be responsible to pay for the book.


* The XC athlete/parent meeting is Thursday, May 12, 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria (note time change). At least one parent must accompany the runner.

* Our 2016-17 football teams will have a scrimmage game this Thursday, 6:15 p.m. at Helena High School.

May 9 Announcements

1. Tickets for tonight’s Harlem Wizard game at the high school can now be purchased at the door…$10 for students, $15 for adults. Tip-off begins at 7 p.m. at OMHS! Congratulations to 8th grader Tre Sullivan who received a complimentary ticket for his good sportsmanship this morning!

2. Current (2015-16) Eagle Ambassadors should check their Google email today for a message from Mrs. Gilmore regarding the OMIS visit on Thursday/Friday.

3. Payments to reserve a yearbook on the waiting list will be taken until this Friday. Please bring a check (preferred) made payable to OMMS for $40 to C-5 or the front office.

4. 6/7th graders interested in the summer math camp being taught by Ms. Bittinger should submit the registration form/payment to the front office by May 23.

5. 8th graders are reminded that May 11 is the deadline to submit OMHS Relay for Life applications to the front office.

6. Congratulations to the “Don’t Stop Ballievers” kickball team who won Friday night’s tournament: Josie Ohlson, Lauren Price, Riley Lehman, Raylee Patton, Brennan Thomas, Blake Buckner, Parker Campbell, Stone Evers, Winn Jones, Ashleigh Hogan, Annamarye Morgan, and “Coach” Kennedy!

May 5 Announcements

1. Our SGA is pleased to present “Causal for a Cause” next Wednesday, May 11. For a one dollar donation to support an OMHS teacher in need, you’ll get to wear casual attire. Proceeds will help offset the medical expenses of Coach Burrough. Details to come….

2. 8th grade Science Club members going on Saturday’s field trip should report for 7th period attendance and then to the Science Lab for a brief meeting with Mr. Walker.

3. Please remit library books immediately to avoid an accumulation of fines.

4. Spring Fling wristbands go on sale today at lunch for $5. The fun begins tomorrow evening at 5 p.m. In addition to the inflatables, there’s now the oversized Twister game, a Twirly Whirl, bull riding machine, the human foosball and “live” Hungry, hungry hippo experience! Additional monies will be needed for the food trucks and concession stand. A few t-shirts will also be available to purchase for $20 at the admission gate. If not buying a wristband, admission to the event is still $5. If wearing a Spring Fling t-shirt (to be delivered on Friday), there is no admission cost and your shirt is your wristband
And, just in….Steak n’ Shake will now be in the food-truck line-up!

May 4 Announcements

1. The deadline for kickball forms and/or t-shirts has passed. T-shirts will be delivered Friday during 7th period.

2. The NS Library will host Game Day this Friday, 3:30-5:45 p.m. Saturday is a volunteer day for anyone needing community service hours. Contact Kate, 439-5512, to arrange.

3. NJHS tapping is this afternoon. Eligible 8th grade members will report to the cafeteria at 2nd period and are responsible for any missed assignments. The tapping for eligible 7th graders begins later in 2nd period. No backpacks can be brought to the cafeteria as students will have ample time to dismiss to lockers before 3 p.m.

4. Parents of students on the recent band/choral field trip are reminded to pick up medication from Mrs. Stone if not needed for the remainder of the year.

5. SPRING FLING tickets go on sale at lunch tomorrow for $5…what a deal for all the fun in store…human foosball, life size hungry hippo, inflatables including a climbing wall, music, entertainment, and food trucks from Izabella’s Italian Sandwiches, Sno-biz, Doodles, Taco Tech, and Marlee’s Sweet Treats!
