August 21 Announcements

1. Athletic season passes – are no longer being sold. Students who ordered will receive them during 7th period on Tuesday for take home.
2. Sign Language/Chess Club – classes are forming soon! If interested, please stop by the front office for information.
3. Chick-fil-a Spirit Week! Show your Eagle spirit this week at the Greystone Chic-fil-a! We’re in competition with Chelsea Middle to see which school has the most spirit! When you stop by the Greystone location, just tell them you’re an OM Eagle. The school with the highest sales received 15% of their total!
4. Absentees – please have a parent call as early as possible whenever you become ill and can’t attend school. All absences must be verified and written parent/doctor excuses are due within three days of your absence.
SPORTS NEWS:
OMMS girls on the OMHS golf team will be selling specially designed GOOM decals for $5 this Wednesday – Friday….stay tuned for time/location!

August 18 Announcements

1. Eclipse letters/event – due today to 6th period. If at all possible, please refrain from checking out during the eclipse on Monday. Students who have permission to view the eclipse will be outside on the football field. There is no 7th period on Monday.
2. NJHS members (8th) – please refer to updates on the NJHS blog as well as the opportunity to volunteer at tomorrow’s Eagle Day event.
3. PE clothes – orders due today.
4. Athletic passes/Eagle Day tickets – today is the deadline to purchase season passes. Eagle Day tickets must now be purchased at the gate.
5. Chess Club/Sign Language Class – if interested, please pick up information in the front office. No experience is needed for chess – classes begin September 6, 7 a.m. in D-2.
Sign language classes begin September 7, 3:15 p.m. in B-7.
6. First Priority Leadership Team – if interested in participating, please plan to meet Monday, 8/21, 7:15 a.m. in Mr. Renfro’s room, D-4.

August 17 Announcements

STUDENTS
1. If you were absent on Wednesday, please pick up your eclipse permission form in seventh period today. All forms are due to sixth period teachers tomorrow.
2. Eagle Ambassadors will meet tomorrow morning, 7:15 a.m. in D-5.
3. Students interested in competing with our nationally recognized Robotics team should plan to meet tonight, 6 p.m. in the cafeteria. Please bring at least one parent!
4. NJHS members who need community service hours and wish to volunteer at Saturday’s Eagle Festival, should check the blog to sign-up.
5. First Priority is recruiting leadership team members. If interested, please attend a meeting next Monday, 8/21, 7:15 a.m. in D-4.
6. Please take the time to put your name in your lunch bag. Several bags are awaiting owners in the front office.
SPORTS NEWS
* 7/8TH graders interested in being a student athletic trainer should see Coach Clemens, C-10.
* Eagle Day Festival is Saturday, 3 – 9 p.m. Ticket orders are due to the front office by tomorrow.
* Tomorrow is the deadline to purchase season athletic prices.
* Interested in a volleyball clinic? OMHS will host a two hour clinic, 8/19 & 26; cost is $20 per session, cash/check payment & registration on site.

August 16 Announcements

1. Eclipse letters – students present today in 7th period will receive a letter regarding viewing the anticipated eclipse. It is imperative that you take this letter home today and share with parents as a response is required by Friday. “Shuttle” students make sure you pick yours up before leaving! Responses will be returned to your sixth period teacher.
2. PE Uniforms – order forms due by Friday to your coach.
3. First Priority – students interested in First Priority leadership opportunities should plan to meet Monday, August 21, 7:15 a.m. in Mr. Renfro’s room, D-4. Regular meetings will begin September 13.
4. Interested in chess? Respected chess instructor, Caesar Lawrence, will begin a chess club here on September 6. Interested students should pick up an enrollment form in the front office or contact him at caesarchess@gmail.com; Facebook: Caesar Chess The classes will meet from 7 – 7:40 a.m. and the cost is $30/month. Beginners welcome!
5. Sign Language – learn a new language! Classes will be taught by nationally certified sign language interpreter, Jami Donaldson, on Thursdays, 3:15-4:15 p.m. beginning September 7. The cost is $40/month. Enrollment information is in the front office or email jamivic@mac.com
6. 7th graders – if you’re interested in going to Washington, D.C., next spring, please plan to attend the informational meeting Tuesday, August 29, 6 p.m. in the OMMS cafeteria. SPORTS NEWS
* Families wishing to purchase athletic season passes are reminded orders are due by this Friday.
* OMHS is hosting a volleyball clinic for boys & girls, 1st-6th grade, 10 a.m. – noon, on Saturdays 8/19 & 8/26, at the high school. The cost is $20 per session (cash preferred, or checks to OMHS Athletics). Walk-up registration on either/both dates. 7/8th graders who would like to work on skills are also welcome.
* Don’t miss out on being an Eagle…stop by Heardmont this Saturday for the Eagle Festival – lots of great prizes are being given away in addition to catering by Zaxby’s, games, inflatables, and family fun!

August 15 Announcements

Students
1. 7th/8th graders are reminded to invite parents to Open House tonight, 6 p.m. Parents will need to know your first period teacher’s name/location.
2. 7th/8th graders interested in becoming student athletic trainers should see Coach Clemens in C-10. You must be able to maintain a “B” average.
3. The I-now home portal is now activated for the 2017-18 school year. Current subscribers can log-in as typical and simply update the school year to access grades/attendance records online. Information for new students will be forthcoming.
4. The deadline to order PE uniforms has been extended to this Friday. Order forms are available from your PE coach who also has size samples. The cost is $10 for a shirt, $15 for shorts. If you do not need to purchase a new uniform you may wear one from a previous year. Names must be put in both shirt/shorts.
5. Eagle Ambassadors helping tonight are reminded to meet at 5:30 p.m. in front of the school.
6. 7th grade students interested in going on the Washington DC trip in the Spring of 2018 need to complete the attached Google Form as soon as possible. This form is for interest only, not a current commitment.

* The high school soccer informational meeting tonight will be at OMHS’s cafeteria, 7:30 p.m. OMHS soccer is open to boys/girls in 7/8th grade. At least one parent should attend.
* Friday is the deadline to submit order/payment for athletic season passes. Please bring to the front office.
* Eagle Day Sports Festival is this Saturday, rain/shine…fun, food, and fellowship with games, inflatables, and more is in store at Heardmont Park, 3-9 p.m.

August 14 E-news

1. Sixth graders are reminded to remind parents of Open House tonight, 6 p.m. Parents should know the name and location of your first period teacher.
2. All students will need a pen/pencil for PE classes tomorrow.
3. We will begin our rotation schedule tomorrow which means sixth period will be first hour.
4. Students are reminded if you arrive at 7:50 a.m. or after, you must be checked-in to school by a parent.
5. Eagle Ambassadors – if helping tonight, please arrive to the front of the school at 5:30 p.m. All Eagle Ambassadors should plant to attend a meeting this Friday morning, 7:20 a.m. in D-5.
6. The Eagle Day Community Sports Festival is this Saturday, 3 – 9 p.m., rain or shine at Heardmont. Food service begins at 4 p.m. We’re grateful to Zaxby’s for sponsoring this event!
SPORTS NEWS:
* 7/8TH graders interested in playing OMHS girls/boys’ soccer, should plan to attend an informational meeting tomorrow night, 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. At least one parent should also attend. August 11 Announcements

If you are interested in learning sign language, please stop by the front office to pick up an informational flyer. Classes will be taught by Jami Donaldson on Thursday, 3:15-4:15 p.m. beginning September 7. The cost is $40 per month plus a $35 registration fee.
2. Students not attending today’s gala will stay behind in designated classrooms. Please wait for an administrator to announce dismissal instructions. Tickets will be sold today by volunteers while students are having lunch on team hallways.
3. Please remember to put your name in all personal items brought to school, especially your lunch boxes.
4. Please be reminded that you must have a teacher’s pass to be out of your classroom at any time. If you need assistance from the front office, please report to your class for attendance first, then ask for a pass.

August 10 Announcements

1. Attention 7th graders! Your teams are meeting in their respective hallways today during 7th period. If you are in an elective for 7th and not on your hall, please report for attendance and then your hall.
2. Back to School Bash tickets go on sale today at lunch for $5. Additional monies will be needed for refreshments. Please wear your school colors and show your Eagle spirit! This event will be from 1-3 p.m., We will be on a shortened bell schedule and 7th period will not meet.
3. Please remind parents to come and meet your teachers at Open House next week:
6th – Monday, August 14, 6 p.m. 7/8th – Tuesday, August 15, 6 p.m.
4. 8th graders interested in the Ping Pong Club are reminded to see Coach Adams during PE.

August 9 Anouncements

1. Get ready for back to school fun this Friday as we celebrate with a “Back to School Bash” 1-3 p.m. School dress code, in school spirit colors, red, white, blue, is the attire. The grade level with the most participation will be awarded a Fun Friday in September. The concession stand will be open in addition to pizza and Heavenly doughnuts. A free photo booth with props will also be on site. Tickets will be sold Thursday & Friday during lunch – $5. At least $5 will be needed for food as items range from $1-3 each.
2. 8th graders – if you are interested in joining the Ping Pong Club please see Coach Adams during PE.
3. Please be reminded that students may only ride a different bus in the event of an emergency. A parent note must be submitted at least 24 hours in advance to Mrs. Jones, assistant principal. Please include emergency contact information and the reason.
4. The SC medication policy states that any medication needed during the school day must be brought in to the front office/health room by an adult. Students may not carry medication themselves unless there is a written authorization.
