Policies

Hours of Operation – Monday, Wednesday, Friday – 7:30-3:15.  Tuesday and Thursday – 7:05-3:15.
Schedule – Open and flexible, accommodating students and classes as needed.
  • Morning Study Hall – Tuesday and Thursday 7:05-7:35 a.m. Silent study hall, book checkout, research and independent study.
  • Admittance at all other times is by laminated media center pass or with a class. Passes may be obtained from any teacher.
Resources – 7500+ items
  • Fiction, non-fiction, biography, and graphic novels.
  • Audio books and eBooks – Playaways (audio books on MP3 players) and OverDrive.
  • Reference books (Media Center use only).
  • Special reserve books (Media Center use only).
  • Magazines – Back issues can be checked out for 3 days.
  • 32 Chromebooks, 12 Wireless Laptops, 10 Desktops.
  • Networked printers – 1 B/W LaserJet, 1 color LaserJet.
  • 1 Scanner/copier.
Check out policies – loan period – 14 days for books and audio books, 3 days for magazines, and overnight for reference and special reserve books.
  • 3 items maximum, including magazines, audio books, and reference materials.
  • Books may be renewed for 2 additional check out periods.
  • Students may place a reserve on items they wish to be next in line to check out.
Overdue, Damaged, and Lost Books
  • Check out privileges are suspended until all overdue books are returned
  • Overdue notices are sent to ELA classes every Wednesday.
  • Overdue emails are sent to students and parents every Wednesday.
  • Damaged items should be returned to the media center for repair.  Students will be expected to pay for items that are damaged due to abuse or neglect.
  • Lost items – Hardback fiction or biography – $20.00.  Paperback books –  $10.00.  Non-fiction, audio books, or reference books – current cost.  Magazines – $3.00.
 Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
 Any willful misuse or abuse of computers or other technological devices will be considered a violation of the Shelby County Acceptable Use Policy, and dealt with according to the procedures outlined in the “Shelby County Student Code of Conduct and Attendance.”
