Parents,

We are having more and more cell phones being taken up from our students. Shelby County policy states that all cell phones must be turned off and kept in the lockers during the school day. We have had several students who have been receiving texts from parents during the day. Students could face alternative school for repeated cell phone use in the school during the day. Thanks for your help with this.

Looking forward to recognizing the 513, yes you heard right, 513 HMS students who made the A/B Honor Roll for the first 9 weeks. What a great accomplishment for these hard workers. Thank you teachers for going the extra mile to help our students and thanks to all of the parents who encourage their children to be the best they can be. HMS is the Best!!

I am so proud of our HMS students. Today is Black Out Day for the big game with RMS tonight. Yesterday, I gave them a few rules about dress code and face painting. EVERY student followed the rules today! That says a lot about our HMS students. Hope to see the entire town at the game tonight. HMS is the Best!!

Just a reminder about the HMS Dress Code Policy. Dresses and shorts for our young ladies must be at mid thigh length even if they wear leggings. Athletic and sweat pants are not allowed. Jeans with rips in them are not allowed.

Don’t forget about the 6th grade Open House on Tuesday night. I am looking forward to meeting the parents of this great group.

Big wins last Thursday by the 7th and 8th grade football teams. The 7th grade won a thriller in OT over Oxford 12-7, and the 8th grade crushed Oxford 29-8. Both teams are now 1-0 and return to action this Thursday in Columbiana against CMS. Also kudos to the HMS cheerleaders and dance team for all of the hard work they have been doing.

We are meeting with all of our kids today during PE to discuss the HMS Bullying Policy. Every student will sign a pledge to not participate or allow bullying to go on at HMS.

The football, volleyball, and cross country teams have been working hard in the extreme heat to get ready for the upcoming season. The kids and coaches have been putting in long hours in order to be prepared for our tough conference. Please check our website for schedules and come out and support our HMS Panthers!!

Very impressed with our 6th graders so far. They have done everything that we

have asked them to do. Most of them have already conquered their lockers.

They are following the rules in the cafeteria and hallways. Keep up the good

work!!

All of our students were out in 2 minutes and

20 seconds. The goal is 2 minutes. HFD was

satisifed with our procedures. The kids did

everything that we asked them to do.
