Montevallo High School ELL Students Complete Children’s Book Project

MHS ELL Books 3English Language Learner students at Montevallo High School recently completed a children’s book project where they wrote a story in narrative form that displayed and encouraged a particular character trait.   This week, the students went to Montevallo Elementary School to read their books to the younger ELL students.

“The elementary kids loved the stories and asked if we could come back,” said Principal Brandon Turner. “The plan is to for the MHS ELLs to partner with MES MHS ELL BooksELLs on projects and mentoring opportunities.  We were very pleased with the result and can’t wait to go back!”

Turner said the project provided an excellent opportunity for the high school to partner with the elementary school but to also to have an impact on the younger ELL students within the community.

“Our sponsors, Amanda Harvie and McKenzie Wayman did an excellent job in putting this all together,” Turner said. “I am very proud of their efforts and the pride in which our students took in this important project.”
