High School Math Tournament Results

The Shelby County High School Math Tournament was held March 22 at the Shelby County Instructional Services Center. Students competed in Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, and Advanced Math.  Congratulations to the following students and teams for their outstanding performances.

Individual winners for the Algebra 1 competition were: 1st place – Chance Phillips, Shelby County High; 2nd place – Reagan Young, Chelsea High and Tucker Lansford, Shelby County High (tied); and 3rd place – Juliana Hamer and Hannah Nguyen, Chelsea High (tied).  Team awards went to: 1st place – Shelby County High School; 2nd place – Chelsea High; and 3rd place – Calera High.

Individual winners for the Algebra II competition were: 1st place – Tyler Morris, Shelby County High; 2nd place – Trey Stroud, Oak Mountain High; and 3rd place – Hayato Matsuda, Oak Mountain High. Team awards went to: 1st place – Oak Mountain High; 2nd place – Helena High; and 3rd place – Shelby County High School.

Individual winners for the Geometry competition were: 1st place – Akshitha Korrapati, Oak Mountain High; 2nd place – Mary Katherine Rodger, Helena High and Maryam Choucha, Oak Mountain High (tied); and 3rd place – Abby Vineyard, Oak Mountain High. Team awards went to: 1st place – Oak Mountain High; 2nd place – Helena High; and 3rd place – Shelby County High School.

Individual winners for the Advanced Math competition were: 1st place – Mohammad Zuaiter, Oak Mountain High; 2nd place – Aleksandra Foksinka and Santosh Thundena, Oak Mountain High (tied); and 3rd place – Landon Bentley, Shelby County High.  Team awards went to: 1st place – Oak Mountain High; 2nd place – Shelby County High; and 3rd place – Calera High.
