Friday, May 18th and EXAM SCHEDULE

Students were given plenty of time today in class to work on their study guides! I had a lot of questions about skills today so I’m glad they are thinking! Study guides are due the day of their exam….completed! I am posting a key to the study guide in my classroom on Monday BUT they have to have their study guide completed in order to go look at the answer key! Please help your student remember to get it done over the weekend!

Study guides were given out today during class in order to prepare for our semester exams next week! We have covered A LOT of material since January!!!!  Please remind your student that I’ll be taking these study guides up before the exam next week so please have it completed!

Wednesday, May 16th

Students learned how to write an inequality from a phrase today in class. We worked over 15 problems together in class today! It was helpful for students to refer to their notes from Monday as they identified key phrases that helped them determine which inequality symbol to use!

HOMEWORK FOR WEDNESDAY NIGHT, MAY 16th

Write and Graph Inequalities (front & back) HW for 5-16-2018

Thursday, May 10th & BIG NOTEBOOK TEST

Students learned the proper way to tip for service today in class! We definitely had numerous stories about poor service in a restaurant, but there were also stories of great experiences as well! Next time you are out to eat, let your student help calculate your tip on your food bill! I think you will be surprised and pleased because they can do this!!!!

Here are the scenarios we worked on together today in class:

We have a Big Gold Notebook Test set for this Friday, May 11th! This should be a super, easy test for everyone if they have kept their notebook up to date! If your student has been absent or traveled during the school week on a field trip, please encourage them to come by before school and catch up on missing notes or PowerUps! They can even get notes from a trusted friend, just make sure everything is caught up before the test on Friday!

Wednesday, May 9th & BIG NOTEBOOK TEST

Students had a great time today as they applied discounts and sales tax to real world examples! We calculated discount rates and tax for everything from Dunkin Donuts to North Face jackets! Tuesday, May 8th & BIG NOTEBOOK TEST

As we continue in our percentages unit, students learned how to calculate discounts on purchases today! The process is the same as calculating tax except the discount is SUBTRACTED from the original price! The students and I worked many examples together in class. Homework is very reflective of the problems we did in class.

Monday, May 7th & BIG NOTEBOOK TEST

We started our unit on Tax, Tip and Discounts today in class! Students seemed to pick up very quickly on how to calculate Sales Tax on a purchase and then how to combine the cost of an item with the tax to get the “total cost” of a purchase! Our classwork today looked exactly like our homework for tonight. Here’s what we worked on today in class together:
