Looking for a way for your early elementary students to make their stories come alive?

Try the PuppetMaster app for ipads.

Your students can use their drawings or photos as their puppet and background, or use existing ones that come with the app. They can bring their puppet to life by recording their voice, and either touching the screen or acting things out in front of the camera. What a fun and interactive way to encourage your students to tell their stories!

Quizlet is a "simple tool for learning anything!" It is a very fast way to make flashcards and then use them to memorize your material. You can make your own or use one of the  146,745,722 sets already made by others. There are several games you can play to help you with your learning, including the newly added Quizlet Live! which allows for individual or group competition. Search for you topic or even by your textbook title to find sets already made you and your students may use.

Curriculum Pathways focuses on curriculum that is difficult to explain to students. They provide online curriculum resources that may be easily sorted according to discipline, grade level, or standards for free to grades K-12.  They feature over 1700 resources, including many inter-actives and primary sources. Be sure to take a look at the SAS Writing Reviser. It is a Google Doc add-on.

mathsnacks"Math Snacks isn't a curriculum, but a series of activities you can use with the curriculum you are already using in grades 4-8. Math Snacks materials address critical content including number sense, ratio, proportion, measurement, scale factor, and pre-algebra. Some Math Snacks address more than one content area and can be used in a variety of lessons at different grade levels."

My personal favorite is the Bad Date video to teach all about ratios 🙂  bad-date

Teacher's Info

wayback-machineAs more and more of our lives and those of our students are placed online, we need to be reminded that once something is placed on the Internet - it NEVER goes away. This site is a great tool for illustrating this. Enter the URL of a site and view a multitude of archived copies. For example, enter the Shelby County URL and see what the site looked like in October 1999. You can even see what job postings were available back then!
