Sept. 12 – Sept. 16

Joy is the word we are trying to describe through photography this week.
We will submit our pictures, vote on the best, and create a digital collage using all submissions.

Keep shooting, developing, and we will get to our darkroom group schedule this week :0)

Week Sept. 12th – 16th

OK, for this week we are starting to move a bit quicker.
We should all have at least one roll of film to develop. This will take a few days with so many students developing film at the same time. I will also be grading for above said roll of film and for the completed magazine assignment that we have had for quite a while. All students should be working on the “Overlapping Shapes Composition” art assignment while they are waiting their turns in the darkroom.

As soon as possible, we will be printing photographs from the developed film. This will take a while as well. With 4 enlargers and 25 kids per class, it takes a while for everyone to get their turn.

Our Unit Plan = Composition.
With Project Based Learning, we will be doing small and big assignments all in the name of Composition.

The next two rolls of film will be: Nature and Architecture

Photo Scavenger Hunt (1st Project)

Advanced Photography
Photo Scavenger Hunt

Your challenge is to see if you can if you can illustrate the concept or idea through visual imagery or find the item on the list and capture a picture of it. As a class we are going to choose the best shot of the concept and/or item and it will win center stage in a digital collage of all entries for that concept or item.
You are to use color film that can be developed at the store or use your digital camera and save images onto a thumb drive and bring to school.

This is to be a fun challenge to start our new year off well. Get back into the habit of “seeing” things.
We will start judging submissions Thursday, August 25th. Get used to carrying your camera again. 
Each student must submit a minimum of 5 images (please do more!!!!).

Students are being graded today on their rolls of developed film, printed photographs, and their project theme/idea. It is time for us to get to serious work!!!! :0)

Classes have really gotten started now! Students have shot and developed their first roll of film (many have done lots more). We have been going into the darkroom and students have been printing their first black and white photographs. It has been AWESOME!
We are now starting on our first “Big” art project, Collage. Everyone should have their ideas and know how they are going to complete their projects. I have some very creative kids!
Today I am grading for: photography binder, roll of successfully developed film, and their first print (if they have had their turn in the darkroom). Yesterday I graded for their collage theme/idea.
This is the fun time of the year where we get more confident in the craft and get more creative in the classroom!

Starting today, I will begin rolling film for these students. Students will be assigned to shoot this roll and have it in by next week for development. The students may choose what they would like to photograph. This will be used to review how to use our cameras, how to develop film, and then to print a photograph. This will get us back in the groove!

Darkroom Training

Starting today, students in all my Photography I classes will be getting trained on how to use the equipment in the darkroom. Today, we are starting with how to use the enlargers and the grain focusers. After this training, students will be able to use the enlargers and focus their pictures.
