Jackets in PE

February 17th, 2017 by tray

We encourage you to write your child’s name in their jacket so we might be able to return it to them if the lose it somewhere in the school.

Parents also remember tennis shoes are the best shoes for PE. We will not let students participate in PE if they wear boots with a heel.

Jackets in PE

October 12th, 2016 by tray

Parents, We have lots of jackets in our Lost and Found box in the gym. These jackets come from all over the school where jackets were left. We give these jackets to Shelby Emergency Assistance several times during the year. Encourage your child to look in the lost and found box in the gym for missing jackets. We will give the jackets to Shelby Emergency before Thanksgiving. Thank you. Mr. Ray

Welcome back to MES Physical Education 2016

August 23rd, 2016 by tray

Welcome back to school at Montevallo Elementary for the 2016-17 school year. Every child will have 30 minutes of physical education every day. Please remember your child needs to wear tennis/athletic shoes for PE. We can not allow students to participate if they are wearing sandals, dress shoes, or cleats. A soft soled lace up shoe  or velcro shoe is best.   Your child will have Mr. Ray or Mr. Alexander for PE.    When is rains or it’s cold classes are combined in the gym.    We utilize outside areas like the track and football field also.   We stress that each child is moving during PE time.    Our motto is

MES=  Moving Every Student.

Thank you

Mr. Ray

MES Jump Rope For Heart

February 17th, 2016 by tray

We will be doing our Jump Rope for Heart event  next week  Feb 25/26th in PE classes.    This event is for 2nd-5th grades.    This is an event to raise awareness of heart healthy exercise and also serves as a fund raiser for the American Heart Association.

All students will participate in the exercise part of JFH.   Students will jump rope in PE class one day and take turns with their team of 4 to 6 students.   Students typically will jump rope for a minute or two and then swap with a team member to rest.

Students do not have to raise money to participate.   Only the students that wish to qualify for prizes have to raise money and turn it in to Mr. Ray.

The deadline to turn in money is March 10th.

This is MES’s 36th year to participate in JFH.

Welcome to 2016.

Welcome Back to Montevallo Elementary PE for 2015-16

August 10th, 2015 by tray

Welcome back to the 2015-16 school year here at Montevallo Elementary.   Your child will have PE everyday for 30 minutes. We ask that students wear tennis shoes to school for PE.   Tennis/athletic shoes (no cleats)   are the safest shoes for PE activities.   We will have your child active and moving as much as possible for the 30 minutes.   In grades K-3 we work on movement skills, running, throwing, catching, etc.   In Grades 4th and 5th we teach more organized sports units such as basketball, flag football, Frisbee, etc.     We have asked that if your child has a health condition we should be aware of to please send a note and let us know.     Thanks and we look forward to the new school year.   Mr. Ray
