Today the superheroes kicked off the Brock Superhero Math MOVEment!
The math movement is all about making students more aware of how we use math all the time everyday! One thing that is important about making learning relevant is applying it to everyday life!
From now on, we will be looking for how we use math in each subject, on the playground, at home–everywhere! It’s a MOVEment, so we’ll be moving too! We be doing math on the playground, outside, or moving around in class, but we’ll be using movements more in math!
Today, we tallied up our High Frequency “Fry” Words that we found in the books we are reading. We counted the tallies and found 37 fry words in our books. We also realized that we can count how many times we swing on the playground, how many poles are in the covered walkway by the gym, and how many minutes it takes us to go to the restrooms.
If you start to hear the superheroes say “We just used math!” get excited–that’s part of the movement.
