I was going to read “Letter from a Birmingham Jail” today with my students because our writing workshop next week is on letter writing. However, for most of my students it would be too intense and the reading level is too high. That does not mean I don’t think it would be of value to an older student, or for a 6th grader with caretaker supervision. Any parent who would like to read a copy with their student may borrow one from me.
REMINDER The next Independent book reading deadline is January 23. Students will have a short book interview with the teacher.
Homework: Students who chose not to finish “Phantom Tollbooth” in class should do so. You are not responsible for reading the pages between Act 1 and Act 2.
