Montevallo Rotary Club Scholarship 2019

The Montevallo Rotary Club is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a Montevallo High School senior planning to attend the University of Montevallo this fall. Applicants must submit the application and essay by Friday, April 26 to Ms. Allen. Get the application and essay prompt info here.

2019 Summer School Info

Shelby County offers summer school for students who fail courses during or prior to the 2018-2019 school year. Please review these documents for information on summer school dates, registration, locations, and fees. The courses that provide “get ahead” options are Career Prep, Govt/Econ (rising seniors only), Health, & Driver Ed.

Lawson State Community College Career Tech Waivers

Lawson State is offering tuition waivers for outstanding High School Career and Technical Education Program students looking to enroll in a 2-year Career Tech program. The waiver covers up to two years of tuition and applicants must have a minimum 2.0 GPA. See the Scholarship Wall for an application. The deadline is April 15th and you must have completed your FAFSA.

Ora Jones Memorial Scholarship

The Ora Jones Memorial Foundation will award $1000 scholarships to students who have a minimum 2.75 GPA and plan to attend a 2-year or 4-year college or university. Applicants must also submit a 1000 word essay which “depicts the importance of the scholarship and describe how they will use their education to give back to the community.” The entry deadline is April 19. 2019 Lhoist North America Scholarship

Lhoist North America awards $1000 scholarships to high school seniors planning to attend a 2-year or 4-year college. Applicants should demonstrate financial need and a commitment to the local community through extracurricular activities and service. See the included attachments for the guidelines and application. The deadline is March 15.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Scholarships

The Psi Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is offering (2) $1000 scholarships to African American females with a minimum 3.0 GPA. An essay and 2 letters of recommendation are also required. 

A $1000 scholarship will also be granted to an African American student (male or female) who plans to enroll in an HBCU this fall. A minimum 3.0 GPA is required along with an essay and 2 letters of recommendation.
