Announcements – January 30

Congrats to the JUNA teams that represented CHMS at the Junior United Nations Assembly at Birmingham-Southern College this past Thursday and Friday. The 6th grade delegation represented Spain and won an award for their native costume. The 7th and 8th grade delegation represented France. They were awarded for being Best Prepared and their resolution passed in General Assembly. 7th grader Thomas Brakefield was awarded as a star Boy Delegate, and 8th grader Davis O’Connell was named co-winner of the Erin McPhearson Leadership Award, the top individual award at the conference. Great job JUNA teams!

6th gr Blue Valentine Dance will be Thursday, February 8, from 3:30- 5:30. Tickets are $10.00 and will be on sell in Mrs. Brown’s room or during lunch starting February 1st. For more information, see a 6th gr teacher.

FBLA will meet Tuesday, Jan 30, from 3-4 pm in Room 109.

Any 7th or 8th graders interested in track and field, There will be an informational meeting Thursday, February 1, in Mrs. Burdette’s room 22, at 7:15. If interested, please be sure your physical is up to date.

SGA is collecting new or gently used coats, jackets, and sweatshirts. All donations will be given to a homeless shelter. Ms. Houston’s class is the 6th grade drop-off location. Mrs. Williams is collecting for 7th grade, and Mrs. Moody is collecting for 8th grade. The grade that donates the most will win doughnuts for their entire class!

This Friday, Feb 2, Athletic Boosters will be sponsoring Hat / Athletic Wear Day. You may wear a hat for $1.00 and athletic wear for $1.00 — $2.00 for both.

FCCLA meeting this Thursday (2/1) 3:00-4:00 Mrs. Hunter’s room.

This Friday (2/2) the new “Heroes, Cards and Comics Club” will meet for the first time. If you are in 7th or 8th gr and enjoy vintage video games, comic books and card games, come to Coach Lovett’s room after school this Friday (2/2) from 3:00 – 4:30 and hang out. Chelsea Youth Club is having an equipment drive. Please go through your old baseball and softball items and bring them in to donate to the equipment drive. Our donation box is located in the main gym lobby. Thank you!
