Announcements – November 2

Congratulations sixth graders for winning the United Way Coin Drive (and an extra day of war ball in P.E.). Students from all grades gave more than $150 in change. Congratulations on a job well done!

6th Grade Math Team will have an information meeting for students after school today (11/1) in Mr. Goodall’s room #104 from 3 to 4. Parents will need to pick up their student in the car rider line at 4:00.

Any current 7th or 8th grade student interested in trying out for the tennis team needs to go by the Media Center and sign up. You will also need to complete the Google Form noted on the sign up sheet. Evaluations will be held November 14th, 15th, 16th, & 17th at the Greystone YMCA from 3:30 – 5:00 PM. All eligibility forms need to be on file before you can attend evaluations. If you have any questions email Coach Marino or stop by his room, #210, in the 6th grade building. We look forward to a great season!

The ChMS PTO has some exciting fundraising events scheduled for this Friday, November 3rd!
Athletic Apparel Day- Students can pay $1 (to their 1st period teacher) to wear athletic clothes to school. Please keep in mind that our current dress code will need to be followed.
For example: GIRLS- may wear leggings with long t-shirts that come to no more than 4 inches above the knee. Students may wear shorts over leggings if the shorts are no more than 4″ above the knee.
BOYS- may wear long athletic shorts or sweatpants. These rules will be strictly enforced and if the rules are not followed the PTO will not be able to let the students participate in such events at a future time.

Also this Friday (11/4) “Hoops for Hornets”, a free throw competition, will be held during your child’s PE class. The cost to participate will be $2. There will be prizes for the boys and girl winners in each class!

The Cross Country team photo for the yearbook will be taken on Wednesday, November 8th during Advisory at 2:20pm. All Cross country team members should bring their uniform and change after checking in with their advisory teacher. Meet Coach Nivens outside at the track at 2:20.

SGA group photos will be taken on Wednesday, November 8th during Advisory at 2:20pm, dress professionally. Meet Mrs. Nivens in room 105 after checking in with your advisory teacher at 2:15.

FCCLA group photos will be taken on Wednesday, November 8th during Advisory at 2:45pm, please wear your FCCLA t-shirt and blue jeans. Meet Mrs. Nivens in room 105 at 2:40pm.

PAL – The deadlines for turning in meds for PAL are Oct 25 for Week 1 and Nov 1 for Week 2. No meds will be taken after these deadlines except for special circumstances approved by the school nurse ahead of time. PLEASE DO NOT SEND MEDS WITH YOUR STUDENT. PARENTS MUST BRING MEDICINE TO THE HEALTH ROOM AND SIGN THEM IN WITH THE NURSE. Forms for meds can be found on the SCS website. If your student has meds in the health room at school and you wish for those to be sent to PAL you MUST let the nurse know ahead of time.
