The Science Lady’s Electrifying Visit

The Science Lady visited this week and taught us a lot about electricity.  She demonstrated her Plasma Ball as we learned about the four states of matter (solid, liquid, gas, and plasma).  We learned about electrons, charges and how they work in many different ways, including static electricity, magnets, and her Theremin instrument.  She also let us try out her Van de Graaf Generator as we became a human closed circuit. It was a BLAST!

The Stock Market Game

This week students were able to put their knowledge and research into practice as they began making trades in The Stock Market Game.  They were buzzing with excitement to discuss ideas for investments with their partners.  Over the past few weeks, students have learned about ticker symbols, stocks, bonds, mutual funds, 52 week range, reading various price graphs, comparing competitors, analysts opinions, as well as reading and summarizing relevant news articles. It is exciting to see them take that learning to the next level.

The students had so much fun learning about inventors and inventions!
