My name is Jill Haglund. Welcome to my blog!
Before coming to Shelby County as a teacher in 2001, I taught 5th grade in Texas, 3rd grade at a private school in Georgia, and 2nd grade in Oklahoma. My family moved to Chelsea, AL, from Oklahoma in 2001. From 2001-2006, I taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades at what used to be Chelsea Elementary School. In the fall of 2006, I became the first librarian for the brand new Chelsea Intermediate School. When Chelsea Intermediate turned into Forest Oaks Elementary in 2013-14, I stayed on as the library media specialist. Whew! There has been a lot of change in Chelsea!
I earned my first undergraduate degree at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. (ROLL TIDE!!) in 1990. After that, I completed elementary and middle school education degrees at Midwestern State University and, later, a Masters in Library and Information Sciences from UWA.
My wonderful husband and I have 6 boys and 4 girls ages 19-36 along with 3 grandsons as of this writing. We live in here Shelby County with 2 of our boys who are still in college along with our 4 dogs, 1 cat, and the library gerbils.
