dear students,
hope this week is wonderful in your reading careers:) last week for me was good – read “going bovine” – all 481 pages worth – okay story – wasn’t impressed – language and certain situations in the book definitely not for adolescent reading – can’t figure out what the newberry crew saw in it – maybe they’re all “don quixote” fans…
book i enjoyed more was a biography on johnny kelley – a guy who ran the boston marathon 61 times – despite becoming a seeming encyclopedia about boston, i didn’t know that kelley had been stationed in alabama during world war ii – so that was a neat thing to find out about
with other readings – i kept up with the olympics, of course, i read the economist and learned that the yankees are looking for starting pitching in china – and sports illustrated told me that the new jersey nets are awful – all wonderful things to now know:)
for this week, i have “best efforts” by kenny moore – a book about post-munich runners – great read so far (i’ve read “bowerman” by him and loved that one too) – i also have a book on robert oppenheimer – the overseer of the manhattan project – the book won the pulitzer a few years ago – i got it saturday at a book sale in mountain brook – so i’m looking forward to getting more into it (i’m 70 pages in but the book is 700 pages long – so i suspect it’ll take me a week or two to finish)
hope your reading is great,
maf
This week i started reading That Summer by Sarah Dessen
Monday- Haven is a teenage girl with lots of family problems. Her parents are divorced and her mom is having a midlife crisis. Her father, who ignores her half the time, is a sportscaster who is getting married to the weather girl. Her sister is marrying a guy Haven can’t stand. Before her family life fell apart, Haven had a crush on her sister’s boyfriend, Sumner. Now Sumner is back in her life and charming her. She blames her sister for breaking his heart, and begins to fall for him as well. This book tells the story of Haven’s growing up and understanding you can’t change some things, like her father getting remarried. Her own sweet Sumner broke her sister’s heart when he cheated on her, not the other way around, which she thought.
Hello I just got back from math team and I felt like blogging on The Messenger. Still reading it because I didn’t have alot of time to read last week because I didn’t feel so good. Any way I left off talking about how matty tried impressing Jean by drawing a heart for both of them in there front yard then he went off into the Forest. You find out that he got his name the Messenger and he has been through the Forest so many times that he made his own path. The Forest didn’t like many people and the Forest usually strangled people they didn’t like. Luckily it is a great thing the Forest likes Matty because he has to travel through the Forest all the time to give messages. hye lied and said he was doing something for a message but he actually was going in there to a little creek and in between 2 huge trees he kneeled down and put his hand down underneath the tree and a green slimy frog climbed into his hand. The frog stood completely still only ribbeting. He let the frog go and started to walk home before night. While he was walking home he thought he heard music but he actually heard what was called keening. He later found out that the Gatherer was murdered and that was the sound that Matty heard that night. He heard the Gatherer getting strangled by the Forest.
I am finally reading Catching Fire after finally getting it for my Birthday. It is much better then Switchbacks of course, Almost any book is better then Switchbacks.
Right now Katniss has met Bonnie and Twill, escaped rebels from District Eight who stole peacekeeper uniforms from the the factory in their district that Bonnie worked at that made PeaceKeeper uniforms. They also want to start a rebellion in the districts. They left District Eight because there was already an uprising in the streets of the district. Bonnie and Twill think that the people of District Thirteen, the one the Capitol blew off the face of the Earth, somehow has lived underground and Bonnie wants to go find them and get them to help her.

Hey I’m in Kind of a hurry because of baseball practice so sorry if it is not that great. I left off with Matty going into yhe Forest and goes to a couple of trees and picks up a frog. He then starts to walk out of the Forest and he hears what is called keening i’m not exactly sure but I think that is like a funeral. He then goes home to find that the Gatherer is dead. The next day he goes fishing with Ramond and he tells Matty that he went to the keening and saw the dead body of the Gatherer. He died from what they called entangling which is where the limbs spread through your whole body and strangle you then it kills you. Ramond described the experience of seeing the dead body. They said that he did not get a warning which is where the limbs stretch out and poke you which means really that you should stay out. They couldn’t believe what happened because the Gatherer was so nice. He was actually on his way to tell his relatives that his second baby was born. That was really sad.
Hello 8-)! On this blog I will talk about the book Erec Rex: The Monsters of Otherness. Ever since Erec Rex returned home, his siblings Danny and Sammy have been acting strange. They follow him, staring like lost puppies. The shock of Erec and their mother missing must have been too much for them. Erec returns to Alypium to tackle the twelve trials necessary to become king. When Danny and Sammy follow him there against his motherβs wishes, Erec finds out they are impostors. The real Danny and Sammy have been kidnapped. Erec follows clues that lead him into the Green House, where President Inkle lives. He starts to believe the strange Hermit hanging around the castle might have something to do with the twinβs disappearance. Erec wonders what harrowing escapade his first trial will be, and learns he has to . . . open a nestful of dragons eggs Not only are the eggs difficult to open , but feeding the dragon hatchlings stings his fingers. On top of searching for Danny and Sammy Erec is attempting to learn magic from his magic tutor Mr. Peebles.
To make matters worse, the annoying Balor and Damon Stain, through a loophole in the magical law, are competing against him. Balor hires teams of kids to open eggs, and it seems he will surely find whatever is hidden first. While erec opens the dragon eggs Bethany and Jack fight of the Stain triplets. Erecβs next trial is to βdefeat the monsters in otherness,β but he is not sure how to begin. He hears that two children are being held prisoner of terrible monsters called vogum in βOtherness,β the wild magical worlds outside of Alypium, and he realizes they might be Danny and Sammy. A βsnail mailβ love letter, written on a real snail shell from a secret admirer, turns into a correspondence that helps Erec wind his way through the perils of Otherness to find the twins. Erec discovers the βmonstersβ are actually quite nice. In fact, Tina, his secret admirer, is a hydra herself. Baskania has massed an angry horde to βkill the hydras and save the children,β planning to kill the hydra and valkyries for his dark purposes. Erec stands before Tina and her people, arms outstretched, pleading with the mob that the hydras are good, but Baskania twists his words. In a last attempt, Erec holds up the Scroll of Truth he found in the first trial. Shots ring out, and Erec waits for the sting of arrow and bullets, but then there is silence. The mob has dropped its arms, but Baskania vanishes. All seems lost, but Erec, using his dragon eye, finds Baskania just as he brought back one of his ancestors from the dead. With the help of this ancestor, and now the dragon eye he will take from Erec, Baskania will rule the world. So with the help of an ancestor of his own, and using what he has learned, Erec saves the day, though in the process discovers two dangerous secrets. Baskania is madder still, and more determined to kill Erec and take his dragon eye. That is a basic summary of the Erec Rex Book. π π π π 8)
Book: Orel Hershiser (I will finish this book this week π )
*MONDAY*
The author’s purpose is to tell and explain the game when the Dodgers made the stats of the World Series 2-1 with the Mets still ahead. Orel Hershiser just keeps begging Tommy and Perry and they just keep answering ” wait, just wait and see… how does your arm feel?” Orel is really wanting to pitch, i mean Orel is going crazy. Finally, Orel gets to go in to pitch. He is so excited. He said that after he was warming up in the bullpin and he got called out to go in and pitch, he saw a sign that read “Orel Who?” and Hershiser said that that got him pumped up π . Congratulations on winning yalls first in the World Series and stopping the Mets from scoring so they wouldnt be in the lead 3-0. Now the record of the World Series is 2-1.
Book: Orel Hershiser
*TUESDAY*
There is conflict in my book and the conflict is internal because when Orel goes up to pitch on the mound, he and his catcher has to make a decision to what ball he is going to throw next and the location needed to strike the batter out and to win the game. The internal part is that the batter has no idea or clue what Orel is going to throw next. The batter has to use stratigey to determine where the ball is going to come from. As a pitcher, you have to know how great of a hitter the batter is, the batter’s favorite pitch and spot (don’t throw the ball there!), and you have to make sure you are doing your mechanics correct. Your mechanics are the may you throw the ball, the way you bend your back, and to follow through. Well got to go! Bye!
I am reading Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. Right now Katniss and Peeta and Haymitch just found out that the Quarter Quell’s special assignment is to have the tributes drawn from the current districts victors. This means Katniss and Peeta will have to go into the arena a second time. Katniss doesn’t think that was really what was written on the card since it fits in with what the capitol wants right now. Katniss is positive she has to go in to the arena because she is the only girl victor from district twelve. Peeta has already talked to Haymitch about even if Haymitch gets chosen then Peeta will volunteer anyway. That is my blog for Tuesday.

Okay now for the book Catching Fire. After winning the Hunger Games in the previous novel, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark return home to District 12, a poor sector in the fictional country of Panem. On the day that Katniss and Peeta are to start a “victory tour” of the country, she is visited by President Snow. He explains that he is angry at her for threatening to commit suicide with Peeta at the end of the Hunger Games, which permitted them both to win. President Snow tells Katniss that when she defied the Capitol, she started a chain reaction and has created talk of rebellion in the districts. He threatens to kill her best friend, Gale, if she cannot prove to everyone in Panem that her act was not one of defiance, but that she was instead driven by an intense love for Peeta. The first stop on the victory tour is District 11, the home of Katniss’s friend and ally in the Hunger Games, Rue, before she died. During the ceremony, Katniss says a quick speech to the people of District 11, thanking them for their tributes. When she is done, an old man whistles a tune that Rue used in the arena to tell Katniss that she was safe. The song acts as a signal, and everyone salutes Katniss using the same gesture that she used to say farewell to Rue. Katniss is taken away, but not before she sees Peacekeepers shoot the whistling man in the head. Katniss and Peeta then proceed to travel to all of the twelve districts and the Capitol. During an interview, Peeta proposes to Katniss publicly, hoping to settle the dispute between Katniss and President Snow. Despite this, Katniss learns that their attempts of subduing rebellion in the districts have failed. After they return home to District 12, it is announced that for the 75th Hunger Games, 24 of the current pool of victors will be forced back into the arena to fight to the death, once again. This is in honor of the Quarter Quell, an event that occurs every 25th year of the Games, and allows the Capitol to introduce a twist. Knowing that she and Peeta will both likely be competing in the Games a second time, Katniss decides that she will devote herself to protecting Peeta. During the Games, Katniss and Peeta join up with two other victors, Finnick, a 24-year old man who successfully survived the Games at the age of 14, and Mags, an 80-year old woman, both from District 4. After Mags’ death, Katniss, Peeta, and Finnick join forces with Johanna Mason, a sarcastic and often cruel female victor from District 7, and Beetee and Wiress, an older couple from District 3 who are said to be “exceptionally smart”. Wiress soon proves her genius by revealing to Katniss that the arena is arranged like a clock, with all of the arena’s disasters occurring on a timed chart. After Wiress is killed, Katniss learns of Beetee’s plan to harness lightning in order to supposedly electrocute two other contenders. In the final chapters, Katniss fires an electrified arrow at the force field that contains the arena, thereby destroying the arena and resulting in her temporary paralysis. When she wakes up she is being transported to District 13, a place that is widely thought to no longer exist. She is joined by Finnick and Beetee, but Peeta, Johanna and Enobaria have been captured by the Capitol. Katniss is informed that there had been a plan between most of the contestants to break out of the arena, and that Beetee had been attempting to destroy the force field in the same way that she did. The book ends with Katniss’s friend Gale informing her that though he got her family out in time, District 12 has been destroyed. Okay I think that while I am blogging I will say some moer about a few of the carracters from the begining book Hunger Games.
Katniss Everdeen – The main character and narrator of the story. Katniss resembles Gale and is slender with sleek black hair, misty grey eyes and olive skin. She is sixteen years old and attends a secondary school somewhere in Appalachia, in the book known as District 12. She is often quiet and “not gossipy” in public and is generally liked by District 12’s residents, in no small part because of her ability to provide highly prized (and highly illegal) game for a community in which starvation is a constant threat. Katniss is an excellent hunter, archer, gatherer, and trapper, skilled just like her late father. Since his death in a mine explosion, Katniss has been the sole provider for her family, a role she was reluctantly forced to assume at the age of eleven when her mother’s grief overcame her ability to function in her husband’s absence, a failure of parenting that Katniss continues to resent. She is also resentful of the Capitol’s callous treatment of her District, but has spent too much of her life preoccupied with survival to develop a strong political sense. Indeed, very little seems to motivate Katniss apart from self-preservation and her total devotion to her younger sister, Prim. Peeta Mellark – The 16-year-old male tribute from District 12. He is described as being “a medium height with a stocky build” and has “ashy blond hair that falls in waves over his forehead” with blue eyes. He is the town bakers’ son and is talented in baking breads, cakes and icing cakes, which proves to be an unexpected advantage to him in the arena. Upon arriving in the Capitol it is discovered that Peeta has an instinctive ability to perform on camera and manipulate public sentiment. He has harbored a secret liking for Katniss since they were five that continues through the Games. He is rarely moody or upset and generally takes things lightly. Haymitch Abernathy – A “very drunk, middle-aged man” who was the victor of the 50th Hunger Games. Since winning made him independently wealthy, he has spent almost all of his intervening leisure intoxicated to the point of embarrassment. Being the only surviving Hunger Games champion from District 12, Haymitch acts as a mentor for Peeta and Katniss before they enter the Games, as he has for every couple in the twenty-five years since his own victory. He is often sarcastic and anything but sober, which Katniss finds highly irritating. However, when pushed, he emerges as the pair’s greatest advocate and shows himself to be highly canny as he guides his proteges in a cleverly designed, highly unorthodox strategy aimed at securing the survival of both tributes. So that is a long blog and I am done. π π π π π 8)
No baseball practice today so I’m not in a hurry. Baseball practice wasn’t fun any ways, just batting. Anyways I’m pretty far in the Messenger. This is a great book and I would reccomend it to all of you reading this blog. Okay, so I left off where Matty was walking back from the Forest and he heard what was called keening which is like a funeral. The next day he is walking with Ramond and he tells Matty that he went to the keening and saw the dead body of the Gatherer which was enstrangled and slaughtered by the limbs of the trees. He said it was disgusting and what is really bad is that he was on his way to go tell his relatives that his second baby was born. After that they get to the fishing spot that they wanted and sat on top of a boulder and cast there lines. While this is happening it goes and tells what everybody is doing. Mentor is teaching a dumb troublesome kid named Gabe. Jean is selling bread and flirting with all the boys, the widow of the Gatherer is on the front porch nursing to her new born baby, and the Leader is watching all of this from a window.
That Summer by Sarah Dessen
Tuesday-
Haven is fifteen and her summer is turning out to be rotten. Opening with a view of her mother elbow deep in dirt gardening on the day Haven’s father, a local sportscaster, gets married to the weather girl (not so fondly nicknamed “the Weather Pet” by Haven’s mother) from his station, things are really not going Haven’s way. Not only has her father re-married, but Haven’s best friend goes away to camp and changes drastically, her sister’s upcoming wedding is turning her into a terrible Bridezilla, and Haven herself feels like a freak thanks to her unusual height. When one of her sister’s ex-boyfriends shows up, Haven latches onto him, thinking that the summer when Sumner was around was a golden time in their family. Alternating between her memories of that summer two years ago and the present summer, this is the story of a young girl facing major changes both outside of her control and within herself.
Wednesday-
I think the authors purpose is to entertain. Dessen has nicely captured the pain and humiliation of being fifteen and her vivid picture of Haven’s longing for a past summer when things looked so much better and brighter. Some of the minor characters are a bit over the top though. Haven’s sister is a selfish monster and is allowed to be a ridiculous, shrewish brat for a very long time given her age and imminent marriage herself. Haven’s best friend turns from good girl to love-struck teen rebel seemingly overnight. And Haven’s mother’s portrayal as the newly divorced going out on the town without considering her 15 year old daughter struggling to cope with all the changes is a bit far fetched. But despite the stereotypical characterizations of these minor characters, the book will still entertain and keep the teens reading, especially those who are searching for the person into whom they want to grow. Light and easily read, I can see why Dessen is a recommended read for the late middle school, early high school set. Overall, it’s a good read. π
Blog for Wednesday.
Right now in the book Catching Fire (That is the sequel to Hunger Games. Catching Fire is better but nobody else thinks that.) Katniss and Peeta went into the arena but while they were in the training center Katniss found out that the Peacemaker who tried to save Gale from his whipping has been turned into an Avox. (Toungless slave) This Peacekeepers name was Darius, Katniss’s favorite Peacekeeper from District Twelve. Katniss and Peeta made an ally, Finnick, the youngest person ever to win the Hunger Games. Peeta dies but Finnick does CPR and Peeta is brought back to life. One funny part is when their skin gets messed up by poisonous fog, Katniss goes out in the open and says, “Hey, Haymitch, if you’re not too drunk, we could use a little something for our skin.” And almost instantly a bottle of ointment appears.
That is my blog for Wednesday!
BBBBYYYYEEEE!!!!
π π π π π
Okay, so for two nights-
still blogging on Fire
Mon.- Last week I beleive I left off where Fire was about to do something really stupid. Okay, well, this is what she does. The day when the first is riding out into this crack in the side of a cave, she decides to “distract” the dragons. Well, she does and she gets attacked. So Archer and some other archer people are shooting the dragons and Fire can tell which arrows are Archer’s because they are the fastest. Yeah, Archer is awesome, go ahead and go oooohhhh and ahhhhh. Okay, so her horse gets hurt. (Her horses name is Small) She gets hurt too, not to bad, well, she lives.
Tues.- Well, while she is healing the 1st goes and battles. Well, everyone does. She finally goes back to her house and then one day Briggan shows up and her front door. He asks her to the Kings City. Well, of course, Archer gets all jealous. But, they tell Archer that he can’t come. He throws a fit, this one of those times when I went- hey shut tp Archer and leave Fire alone. Yeah, he bugs me and makes me happy. He has like a multi personallity disorder or something. So off goes Fire with Briggan and his guard.
Wed.- Fire has like seven guards and like three of them are women. She didn’t even know women could be in the guard/army. So they travel and travel and travel. It takes like seventy pages just describing how they travel, and along the way, a guy knocks her fiddle of her horse-saddle-bag-thingy and breaks her fiddle. He also tries to like attack her but, Fire tells Briggan not to hit him and he doesn’t so, I thought that was cool. So FINALLY they make it to the King’s City. (The king is Nash, just so you’ll know) I actually think I said that last week, oh well, no one reads this, except maybe Mr. Mayfield, I don’t know.
Thurs.- So, they’re at the kings city and Nash basically keeps on asking her to marry him. She’s like, uh, NO! He’s really a freak. She also finds out that one of Briggan’s brother, the one that isn’t Nash, really doesn’t trust her. He’s like the spymaster or something. I forgot his name. That guys twin is a girl, and I forget her name too, but she’s really friendly. Briggan also has a kid. (Her mom died) She’s five and is always getting into fights with other kids because they talk about her dad and Fire in mean ways. Briggan gets mad, but she tells him to calm down because she understands what she gets mad about. I really thought her connection with the little girl was cool. (Oh yeah, the little girl is sort of kept a secret throughout the kingdom) So, that’s that.
Okay, well, I have to go for this week. a_head_of_red_hair (a.k.a. Kaitlin) has to go. Bye! π π π
hey mr mayfield now i am still reading 39 clue the maze of bones

Monday:
This week I am reading the book Bounce again because somepeople are saying you should finish it so I am. It starts off at the beginning where her Dad, who she calls Birdie, tells everyone he is getting remarried. Evyn, the main charectar is not so happy about the arrangement because she has to move from her friends and family. Her mom had died so she has been wanting a mom, but not one that lives miles away that would make them move.
Tuesday:
After that, they pack all there clothes and everyone leaves and moves to her house because she is a college professor and that means that she cannot move. When ther arrive there, she is all nice and then Evyn decribes her as short, skinny, and always has a smile on her face. But she doesnβt say that out loud. When they settle in, she meets eveyone in the family. There is aa lot of kids, one younger than her, twins, a boy in her grade, and one boy leaving for college.
Wednesday:
Then after they are settled in she has dinner with the family. When she sits there she starts out very quiet and sweet (Evyn). Then, she starts to talk with everyone. Finaaly they start talking about how she will be attending a private school and she starts to get really really nervous and the first day of school because the first day of school is usually very scary because you donβt know anyone.
Thuresday:
The first day of school for her is reallly weird. First she rides the bus wearing her uniform and boots. Then when she gets to school, she goes to first period and she is the only one because she is the only person to pick Latin as a second language, weird huh? Then she is late for math because she couldnβt open her locker which happens to us at CMS a lot. After that she goes to lunch and she has no one to sit by, but then this girl comes up to her and starts talking to her. And that is basicly her first day of school. By the way she has a brother. I forgot to say that.
Hey I’m on my way through the Messenger. I left off with Matty and Ramond walking through fields and they were going to there fishing spot. Ramond told Matty about the experience of seeing Gatherer entangled by the Forest. They get there and sit down on there favorite boulder and cast there lines. Every where else Mentor was teaching a dumb 8th grader named Gabe, Jean was selling bread, Gatherer’s wife was sitting on her front porch nursing to her baby while mourning over her dead husband. Then the Leader was watching over all of them through a window. The Leader is very young and came to the Village on a broken sled when he was 4.He then after a while became Leader. The Village had a Mueseum this showed the stories of all the people that have come there. There were a red pair of shoes, the broken sled, and a bloody blanket. The bloody blanket was when the people dropped off Seer with his eyes gouged out and crying n his blanket. The sled was when the Leaderr came to the Village.
I read several articles from the magizine “Popular Science”, now many of the articles impressed me because most of the people who designed the things in there were 20 something year olds who had humongous IQs and GPAs as well as SAT and ACT scores.
#1 The author’s purpose of the magazine is to update people on what is happening in the science community. From new inventions and discoveries to updates on things that have been going on and developing over the past few months/years. It is also to entertain the young teen science reader and maintain their interest in science. They also try to interest people in the things so that they try these things out and maybe one day accomplish something with them, like a new discovery or new invention to help the problems being faced today.
#2 Dear US Engineers,
I would love to just let you build your little wall out there around New Orleans, but what fun would that be? Unless you find someway to Tornado proof a city, do not hurricane proof a city. But if you try, I can always just send a massive hurricane your way and yall can hope its not destroyed. So what’ll it be? Stop in three (3) days or I WILL send a hurricane before it is finished and destroy the whole wall and city (again).
Signed Dearly,
Mother Nature
#3 This is much like a book I was reading called “Gravity” because both contain various scientific studies/theories, and both use scientist to prove a point. In Gravity they are studying the effects of plants in space, and everyone gets sick and die. But in Popular Science they are testing various inventions and theories, and no one really dies(as far as I know) in the testing. Though they are similar they also have their differences. Gravity is a book and Popular science is a magazine. Gravity is all about plants, while popular science has many different subjects.
#4 S: Many different magazine authors
O: many new discoveries in science
A:Science Community
P:Inform People of new discoveries

Monday-
I recently started reading another Sparks books, I just can’t get enough of then, (:
Its called The Choice.
The author’s purpose of this story is to entertain. He does this through hooking the reader with traits that many of us see in everyday people. For example, when he describes Gabby, he describes her as a red head from Georgia with a soutern daddy and a debutante for a mother. We can find this in many people from where we live, and so can many other people. He makes the people in his books sound like ordinary people with extraordinary things happening to them. Which only gives them hope that great love stories can happen to everyday people.
Tuesday-
So far my book is about a boy named Travis and a girl named Gabby. They are next door neighbors and meet when Gabby is frustrated because she thinks Travis’ dog got her dog pregnant. When Travis suggests she goes to see a vet, she finds that Travis is the vet, and he ends up delivering her dog’s puppies. Her dog ends up having medical problems, and Travis saves her. Then he invites her to come on the boat with him, all his friends, and his sister; she declines at first because she doesn’t want to jeporadize her realtionship with her boyfriend of 4 years, Kevin. He eventually talks her into going and she parasails with him, and spends the day with his friends and sister. I am assuming that they fall in love, but its just a hunch, (:
Wednesday-
This book is related to conflict because Gabby knows that she is attracted to Travis, but she still needs to be loyal to Kevin. She thinks that she loves Kevin, and she thinks that she wants to marry him, and that he wants to marry her; however, she wonders why there isn’t a ring on her finger. She had her whole entire future planned around her and Kevin, but Travis comes into play and all that could change. She wants to have the perfect family, but could Travis be the real one she is in love with. Maybe it’s time to give up on Kevin, and move on to bigger and better things, even if they aren’t going to be completely planned out all the time, and her life will be spur of the moment.
Thursday-
Dear Gabby,
I can’t help but think lately that you don’t love me anymore. I don’t want that. I love you so much. But even if you can’t love me with all of your heart right now, that’s okay. I will love you anyways. I can get by with a little less love for a while. I know that I am not ready to settle down, and be married, and have a stable marriage. I just need to know if you can wait for me until I am ready. I know about Travis. I can tell you love him, just by the way that you look at him. But can you just please me, and your family by marrying me? I know that your mother wouldn’t like Travis, even though your father would. I love you, and I want you in my life, forever.
Love,
Kevin
My final blog for this week, on Thursday.
I am finally done with Catching Fire. I hate sequels. They just stop. Hunger Games stopped but not as suddenly as Catching Fire did. I wish there would be only one giant book. So this is what happens at the end of Catching Fire. DO NOT READ IF NOT DONE WITH BOOK!!! YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!!
Katniss hits the box that makes the force field around the arena happen with an arrow. This caused all kinds of chaos in the arena. The ground shook like an Earthquake and a hovercraft appeared and grabbed Katniss and pulled her up. The hovercraft belonged to District Thirteen. The other districts have a rebellion and Gale visits Katniss and drops the bomb that District Twelve was fire bombed. That is my blog for Thursday.
Okay now just reread the ile I was at home so thatsearch for the truth in the Erec Rex Series while I was home so that is the reason it is so late for my blog. IN BOOK 3 OF THE EREC REX SERIES, Erec is faced with even more chalenging tasks, choices, and dangers. Baskania is somehow getting information out of his friend, Oscar Felix. He can’t trust his friend. When Erec goes to collect his quest, Baskania is there. He pulls the quest out of Al’s Well, but it’s torn. All it says is “get behind”. Erec goes in search for the Well of Delphi so he may talk to the fates in person. He does so but the fates aren’t much help, and just laugh and giggle like fangirls. Oscar suddenly shows up and demands to know how his father died. The fate tell him “Rosco killed him”. But they’re not alone. Balor Stain shows up just as Erec asks the fates who his father is. The fates become confused and think he means who is Balor’s father. Balor turns out to be a clone of Baskania! The latest contest for Erec is to “get bee-hind and set it free”. A Bee Hind is a mystical hind (deer) that attracts bees, not to mention the Substance. Erec must take this bee-hind from its home and let it roam free to spread the Subtance all over the world. But the Bee-Hind is protecting a man, who had been a lackey of Baskania until he outsmarted him (he apparently did “something bad” to Ugry under Baskania’s orders), and his son. If Erec removes the Bee-Hind, his new friends will be killed by a manticore. Erec eventually sets the Bee-Hind free, but instead of running away, he stays behind. He tells Bethany to go home, but she wont, even when he tries to trick her into leaving. Erec later saves the day by luring the manticore into a whole in the Substance, killing it. Erec’s next task is to retrieve the five Awen from their mystical hiding places and unite them, a herculean undertaking that has laid waste to all those who have attempted it. Erec collects the Awen with the help of his friends, but the Twyth Boar is a trickier matter. The man who owned it once upon a time was now dead. Erec goes back in time to retrieve it, and discovers something truly shocking – he’s one of the royal triplets! Erec goes back to his time and confronts King Piter, his father. Piter reveals that if Erec found out, the castle would collapse, which it promptly does. Erec goes to connect the Awen to the Twyth Boar. He gains perfect knowledge of all things, but gets rid of it to help fix the Substance. But the Boar comes back to him, though the intelligence does not. Erec and Bethany later discover that Baskania has kidnapped her brother. She goes to save him, but Baskania appears and captures her and demands to know her secret. Bethany, put under a spell, tells him that she is the prophesy and that she is the child of said prophesy. Erec saves Bethany in the end, but she is shot with an old spell. She’s put in a deep sleep. After a day or so, a thought strikes Erec. He kisses her and she wakes up. So kind of a summary there but I am still in wait of the fourth Erec Rex book that is sure to come soon… hopefully. π π π π π 8)
Hey I read Some of the book
“Who put that hair in my toothbrush” by Jerry Spinelli
So far it’s been a conflict we’ve all been through… brother vs. sister!!!!!!! The brother worked all Summer making himself look hot to girls so he could win over this popular girl that he’s always had a crush. He gets to school looking like a completely different guy; just to find out she moved over the summer. Wouldn’t that stink!!!!!!! All that work just to find out it was for nothing, we’ve all gone through that!!!! and the whole time his younger sister is making fun of him. his is the part where I’d ball up and cry…
Maybe the only reason he didn’t cry is because It’d hurt his ego. You know guys have this strainge ego saying they can’t show emotions; I know that’s an extream generalization on my part, but it’s true!!!

I read a bunch of Milkweed!!!!by Jerry Spinelli!!!
Himmler is coming
and everyone’s searching for some unknown cow!!!!
That part’s somewhat a comedy, but the rest is serious. That’s one part of the story that you have to understand It makes light of the brighter side.
It’s tone is … Brightish. It makes it hard to believe that there was something as horrible as the holocaust going on yet I think that right there is the most horrifying factor of the whole story!!!!! The boys where hitting the lice right out of their heads. That to me is suicide imagine what that has to be doing to them!!! To their minds.

Ughhh I just hit the wrong button and cleared 3 days worth of worK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THREEE DDDAAAYYYSSSS!!!!!!!!!! Well now I’m just typing rea quick stuff b/c I’m now stressed out.
Monday- The Shoot-out so Billy goes to the thingy for the shoot out thing and he starts going and Chip is watching and stuff. The shoot out begins and gun shots are going everywhere Billy goes for his gun and pulls it out at lightning speed but he isnt fast enough and the other dude whos hes fighting against is faster then him so he gets a shot in and Billy’s hand is bleeding so he goes for the gun ith his other hand but gets shot in the chest. Chip screams like a lil girl and freaks out. once the fight is over with Billy walks behind a building holding his chest and bleeding and Chip follows him like stalker and hears Nilly say one day I’m gonna get him. Chips like Omg! Hes real its really him! He tells his parents and his parents or like yeahh mhhm whatever and doesn’t believe him.
Tuesday- New chapter this chapters called Buried this girl and her mom and dad go to Shakespeare, New Mexico. her parents work for a magazine and they are there on business. Lauren bets her parents she can find a real Ghost and they can document it, and if she does they will buy her a new computer. First place building they walk in to is where the towns people used to eat and drink and also hang ppl b/c there wasn’t alot of trees around about the buuilding had high ceilings a rafters so they would just hang ppl in there. After learning about that one building Lauren freaked out and didn’t wanna go inot anyother place so she hung out there to look for Ghost or what not.
Wednesday- after Laurens parent sleft the Hotel she began to wonder around. She soon came to a stair case and standing on the staircase was a lil girl in her nightgown holding a doll. Lauren of course didn’t think of it being a ghost until they started talking more and the Little girl kept asking for Emma soon the conversation came to the reason she was looking for Emma. The little girl Jane saw this doll tat Emma had and Jane loved it more then any doll she had ever seen so she kept telling her parents she wanted the doll, but they never got it for her. One day little Jane became very sick and as she was sleeping one night Jane’s sister went to Emma’s house and talked to her parents about buying the little doll for 5 gold peices or something gold. so they gave ti to her sister for Jane.
Thursday- When Jane was sleeping they placed the doll in bed with her, that woke her up. Her mom and sister didn’t know she was up but Jane over heard her sister saying how Emma was crying when they took the doll away from her. As Jane was telling Lauren this tears started rolling down jane’s face. Jane felt guilty about taking her doll away but she loved it very much she never stoped holding it even when she died she still had her doll in her arms in her coffin. That sent shivers up my back and I’m just reading the book. Laurens first thought is ths is a real ghost if i could just keep her here fo rmy parents to see that would prove to them. Then a second thought came to mind that maybe the grown ups would scare her away she she quickly lied to jane about Emma crying she told her that Emma wanted her to have to doll but she cried bc she wanted tha gold peice for herself. As sooon as Jane herd that she said so i can go? and Lauren said yes and in a flicker Jane was gone and her parents showed up. Lauren is getting the computer anyways as an early B’day present.
Well my hands are cramping from typeing.. Next time I’m saving my blog in two diffrent files for back up:) Blog ya next week then Spring Break!! Buhh Byee and I’m less stressed now Yayy!! Wish Me Luck for tryouts Fridayy!
Well, first, I had to get this off of my chest. Don’t tell the other books I’m reading, but they’re just here to pass the time until Mockingjay (the 3rd book of the Hunger Games) comes out. Shhhh…keep it a secret. π This week in Maximum Ride, Max, Fang, and Nudge are still on their way to California. They’re about 10 hours away when Max sees a little girl being bullied by 3 older guys. She tells Fang and Nudge to go on at the place where they met after they escaped and wait for her. When she gets down to the group, she sees a shotgun in one of the guys hands, and gets a little bit more cautious. She starts talking to them, and they attack her. She is 5 times stronger than a grown man, so she basically beats them up like there’s no tomorrow. She tells the girl, Ella, to run. The guys get up and surround Max, so she runs into the woods. They randomly shoot at stuff, and actually clip her shoulder and part of her wing. She manages to escape and get to a house about 3 miles down the road. She goes up to it, and sees Ella walking her dog. She thinks hard about whether she needs to approach her or not, but she finally does. She gets Ella as her friend and Ella takes her inside. Her mom is vet, so she eventually finds out about Max’s shoulder and fixes it. The next day, she takes Max to the office and gets an X-Ray. A couple of Erasers come in and Max has to hide. Ella’s mom manages to get the Erasers run off, and Max is safe. Meanwhile, Fang and Nudge have joined a few failies of hawks on top of a cliff. They start learning from the hawks about how to fly better. When they’re flying one day with the hawks, Nudge notices a sign that has her hometown on it. They follow the road and find the house her parents live in. 3 Erasers comeup from behind, and they get in a fight. They are just ending the fight where I stopped. While Gasman and Iggy are at home, they have built a bomb, put nails on the road, and put an oiled tarp on the road. An Erasers Hummer come down the road and flips. Gazzy and Iggy see it and go to an old shack. Two Erasers surround them at both exits, so the kids have to fly straight up out of the building. As they’re going up, Gasman drops the bomb and kils both Erasers. They’re hiding on a hill where I stopped reading about them.
1- Well they went upstairs, and only to find that two of the walls from the side of the house were missing. they had been ripped or torn off by something… the question was…. what was it? i think it was another vampire…. every time they fight something, it’s always a vampire, so i think it will be the same thing again….\
2- After they discovered that the walls were missing, they looked down……and saw a body, sprawled out on the ground, with blood all over it. it was one of the girls from the party, and she had been thrown two floors and hit the ground; she was dead. it must have been a vampire because they are probably the only thing strong enough to do all this damage…..
3- Finally, they looked to the corner of the room, only to see Vickie, trembling in fear, and not moving at all. she just sat there, staring, with a look of disbelief. she was the only one who had seen what happened. it was the only evidence they had, and she couldn’t say anything. all she could do is sit there.
4- bonnie started to have a psychic vision. she saw a boy, about 19 or 20, with light blonde hair and an old, yellow jacket. even though it doesnt say who he is, i think that he’s the person/thing that did all this. i think that he is planning to take over fell’s church…..
sorry in a rush tonight just got home from softball so it might be a little short. π

hey mr mayfield now i am going to finish my book
o.k now in chapter nineteen i have read the dan was really really really π π π happy that the second clue was smuggled in his church pants and the best thing about it was that he was the hero of the day π π π with a little help from amy and then they went to the cafe watching the tourists and the locals enjoying their day and also this was the day after the thunder storm but this day was was all nice and pretty with a blue sky and when they had their bags packed they checked out of the hotel and then dan felt a little insincere that he did not wanted to see ian and nattily get a way because they tied him up and then dan started to wonder what was in the vial that he had in his church pants
and in the final chapter chapter twenty
william mcintyre made him self an impenitent to go to the observation deck of the Eiffel tower after the heavy heavy rain when the air was nice and clean and paris was looking down as if she had no dark secretes of her own then some man in some dark close said that no one trusted him but wiliam disagreed and even thou the wiliam was annoying he was not annoying annoying but if he was really annoying his collig would do bad things to him and then one of the clues that he had found was a phone number to viena austuria and then the man in the black close whispered that is that a smart idea and questioned him
bye
i am reading going bovine. after mayfield said that it was no longer extra credit i kinda lost the will to read it but when my mom said that because she bought i was going to read it or else. so i have been reading it.
dear cam,
i know that you smoke pot, listen to gay jazz music, and like to abuse your sister but you need to learn how to be cooler. its absolutly ridiculus how stupid you are becasue you do all that stuff not even to be cool. the only reason kids do that stuff is to act like there cool. you on the other hand can even admit how lame and stupid you are for doing it. nobody loves an addict and in your case nobody loves an addict who has no self esteem. the point of the matter is you need to get a girl friend and hang out with your cooler sister so you can become popular.
i would say that the change in the pages that i have read is cams relationship with his family. at the beginning he talks about how he had great times with them at disney world until he almost drowned and then everything went down hill from there because his dad became a drinker and his sister became a bad girl. so everyone was kinda centered around him and when he came within a near death experience everything that was great died.
i think that some of the conflict in this book is between cam and his sister jenna. it all starts out in the hallway where he and his sis get into a fight. not a fist fight though because city slickers aint goin throw now punches. but when you look at a fight in the city it was what they were doing, arguing. they later on do more fighting. so i now pronounce this conflict external between he and his sis.
i would like to compare this book to another book that i have read and it is called crank. yes i have read crank so dont ask if im just cheating because im not. well they relate because in the story the main characters are doing drugs at some point in the story. also they have parts where teenagers do things in the story that teens are not supposed to do until they get married. if you now what i mean. but thats only if you are a christian.
well that all fokes and thats all i got so im gone to bed and ill be doing my blogs next week as well
Monday
I am reading Bear. The book is about Paul βBearβ Bryants life. it is a very entertaining book. the best way i like to describe the book is awesome. The part im at is where alabama is about to win the championship
Tuesday
I think the authorβs purpose is to entertain and to inform because the book tells you about Pauls life. So its realistic fiction. The book tells facts, yet it is very interesting at the same time. I like books that are not all facts, but I don,t like that many books without facts.
Wednesday
I think the book relates to change because Paul changes throughout the book. He is a regular football coach and at the end he is a championship football coach. It is a big change in the book.
Thursday
This book is like another book I read, called Touchdown Alaxander. They are alike because they are both based on football and about championships. One is about a player and one is about a coach. both books are really good. bye
