“that’s what i’m here for” – by a detroit lions linebacker i loved growing up – story of his wife’s 12-year battle with cancer – great story of faith sustaining you through life’s tragedies – and, how our heroes can grow and be more than we ever thought (and thus, really heroic in the first place)
“shattered hopes” – story of canada’s 1980 olympic team – good for middle school as an example of even the best plans of some don’t always work out – imagine working four years towards and olympics and then it’s suddenly taken away from you because your country is boycotting…
“prefaces to shakespeare” by tanser – got from the au library – i now know how to teach the three plays we read this year – unfortunately, we’re done with them:)

Sorry my blogs didn’t come in but I don’t know what happens so I’ll make up for it with twenty minutes of creative writing so I was just walking homeland then I blacked out now I’m in the woods and there’s people walking around me speaking some other language but just stick with me Ill get to how I found out the launguage so there was a knife and a ak-47 in front of me which should I go for all the sudden the door slams open the guys come in but I got the launguage because of a recent class I had took I think it was soviet because they said time to kill him……..
Hey mr. mayfield I’m going to do an authors purpose on the blog i did last as tyhe three kids are walking through there houses, and searching for the family memebers that have just dissapeared like the others. Well i beleive the authors purpose is to show the reader that this is a huge conspiracy thats growing, and that the kids are hopefully lost without the adults to guide them. Now when they are at Sam,s house he wants to show that there is so much mor to the story then people dissapearing. The orb of light shows some paranormal acticvity that is going to effect the story. It also shows that Sam has something to do with it because it did not just randomly pick someone to haunt. Also the diary entry left open by his mither shows that the story also shows that his mom may know something, and that other problems may occur other then the strange dissapearence. So many different problems in one story. I liike it alot.

So Quinn Astrid and Sam are walking to the plaza with all the other kids when they begin to smell smoke.
They rush over to the plaza to see the small apartment complex over some shutdown stores is high up in flames. Nobody is doing anything, but standing around, adn watching it burn. If it was to spread then it would hit the hardware store and then the daycare. These two things are very important to keep aroud so Sam Knew he must do something. hen he got closer he heard a voice coming from the bui;ding and he realized it was a small girl screaming for her mom. He stood up and immediatley started to give orders for men to gat hoses from the store, and go to the fire station. His job was to go into the building and save the girl himself.
i am reading the hunger games and i am so g;ad mom convinced me to read it.( bc i would have never choosen to read it on my own) but i am glad i am.
Katniss and Peeta have been dropped off at the Capitol after there long train ride. at the Capitol, Peeta and Katniss are sent to there personal stylists to get ready for their enterence upon the chariot. every year, district 12 has dressed according with coal. but since this is the first year Cinna is working, he wants to dress them up so that everyone will notice district 12. Cinna dresses them in black unitards and boots that come up to there knees.

after putting on their knee-high boots, they acesserize with a cape and a large head dress. Cinna has created a fire that will not burn, it is sort of like a fake flame. now that they are suited up in their cape and headdress, they walk out to the chariot. the chariot for district 12 is being pulled by 4 coal- colored horses. they step up onto the chariot and the horses circle the loops of City Circle.

right before they reach the crowd, the tributes can hear the anthem blazing from a mile away.Cinna and Potia(Peeta’s stylist) sets the capes and headdresses on fire. they both gasp as they wait to be burned from the back-bone down, but it actually worked. it had more of a tingling sensation. right as they got the crowds attention, Cinna was running along the side screaming something to them. Katniss had no idea what he had said over the blaring of the anthem. Peeta suggested that they should hold hands bc that was probably what he said. they both looked over at Cinna with their hands grasped toghether.Cinna looks proudly at them with his thumbs up.
So I left offf on Gone as they got to the plaza and Sam is giving orders to calm down the fire. His job is to get the girl out of the burning building. He grabs a wet rag that Astrid gives him, and she tells him not to breathe in the smoke. He runs in, and rushes up stairs as black smoke flows out from under the door. It bursts open with flame and he runs in to the room. He sees the girl on the ground, and he goes to pick her up, when she screams so loud, and points her hands at him. All of a sudden rows of fire burst from her hand and he dodges it. Before she can shoot another deadly strike, he uses the power he has that can only be used under pressure, and a bright light shoots from the palm of his hand. The girl is knocked against the wall, and he grabs her as he heads for the window.
Alright so I come home and there is a bag of peanut butter covered pretzels on the kitchen table. I’m currently eating them and I’m extremely happy.
I will let you know ASAP if I can go to Write in the Middle or not. But so far, I haven’t heard from Montevallo… They’ll probably have their mind made up next week for sure.
So right now I am reading Eragon. Oh my…
This book frustrates me. The first five chapters were excellent because Eragon tells you about where he lives and how his family is poor. He talks about living with his uncle and how he has no clue who his father is and his mother had to leave him.
A lot of the time Eragon’s family has trouble getting food but Eragon’s uncle will not accept money from anyone. One day after Eragon had been out hunting he finds a dragon egg.
Of course he doesn’t know that it’s a dragon egg he just knows its a rock type thing.
Finally, one night the rock starts rattling around and making a high pitched squealing noise and then BAM! out pops a dragon.
Eragon doesn’t know anything about dragons. He gets some meat and feeds that to the dragon and then he finds a place for the dragon out in the forest.
Everyday Eragon would do the same thing and he would go out to feed the dragon.
Once the dragon got too big to stay in the trees Eragon made a spot for it on the ground.
Then Eragon went to the town and asked a man about dragons and he found out how to take care of it.
Later on he was trying to figure out what to name the dragon and then he realized the dragon was a girl and named her Saphira.
Alright that’s all. I’ve got to go get ready for the band concert tonight. YEA!

i stayed up for a while last night reading this book. im a few pages into chapter 8 and katniss and peeta are getting ready for the Games.
ater they both hear their private lessons scores, she went to her compartment, exhausted and stressed from the long day. as she closed her eyes, she remembers home on a Sunday. the first time meeting Gale. how he helped her learn how to set a snare and be succesful. how she showed him where her secret places were and how they were filled with lots of wild berries or turkey.
Hey Mr.Mayfield. I’m going to do my last blog for the week. So it changes POV throughout the story to different people. They change to a girl named Lana. Her Grandpa Luke and her are driving in his old pickup truck outside of Perdidio Beach, to there ranch. Well not her ranch. She is just staying with her grandpa as a punishment because she got caught sneaking in alcohal for a boy. So they are driving, and her dog Patrick is in the back. All of a sudden he is talking, and then he is gone. She sees the wheel unattended, but is too late because he is plummeted into a deep ditch as she is beat with the things that consumed the car. The car landed in the ditch, and she was left upside down in her seatbelt. he was bloody and mangle, and alone.
So I had this whole blog typed up and it just deleted 🙁

Blogging on The Hunger Pains
Mon.- This book probably isn’t worth the effort to read it. Not very good, written poorly. And now that we’ve started taking words and phrases out of sentences in class, I find myself taking words out in books that they don’t need 🙂 anyway, Kantkiss and Pita are off the fight to the death in the hunger games…
Tues.- So Kantkiss is a lot like the girl from the twilight book they parodied, and I didn’t really like that… But anyway, she’s very dumb and believes everything everyone says. Pita is this four hundred pound kid that eats a lot.
Wed.- So Kantkiss and Pita are in ther training session and Pita goes in and tells the Gamemakers how he will win the hungergames in a speech and Kantkiss misses the apple in the pig’s mouth and kills one of the game makers.
Thurs.- During the interviews with all te tributes, Kantkiss is talking about how she hates the Capitol and Pita professes his love for her and sheoumches him in the face… Like I said, not a very good book.

Mon.-As soon as the didact comes back a bunch of ships start surrounding the island.immediately the war sphnxs surround the humans and the fore runner.they take them to the top of the mountain.there they are dripped off and they go to the didact.
Tues-the didact informs the people that the ships are here for one of two: to take the didact or to ask for his help.the didact waves his hand and then the four sides of the mountain come together.that means that the didacts wife planted a builders seed.
Weds-a builders seed is a seed that you plant and it creates a ship after a while.the ships technology updates as new technology is invented.once the ship is done coming together it launches.the other ships above the island dont even budge.the forerunner asks the didact why.
Thurs-the didact says that their ship was protected by an energy shield.they had to escape quick because their shield wouldn’t last long.the didact gave the forerunner new armour and gave the humans armor also.then they entered slip space

anyway, left off with don quixote trying to blame chivalry for his most recent loss in a fight (a knight pulling a sword on a non-knight) and then going to another inn/castle. Rather than admitting that quixote just got served, Sancho insists that Don fell off of his horse. don then is treated by the innkeeper’s wife and smoking hot daughter, who don belives that he must be irresitible to. That night, the hunchbacked servant comes in to visit the carrier who shares a room with Sancho and Don. the servant mistakes quixote for the carrier and climbs into his bed. Don belives that this must be the innkeeper’s daughter. All the commotion wakes up the carrier, who attacks don. the servant jumps into sancho’s bed, right before the innkeeper joins the fray. This brawl wakes up an officer who breaks up the fight. He sees don knocked out on a bed, then leaves to get a light. Don then wakes up and recounts to Sancho that the daughter came to him, right before another giant attacked him. The officer comes back, gets berated by Don, and starts to whip Quixote. (By this point, you’d think that Don would just shut up, but no.) after the officer leaves, don decides to make the balsam that he claims knights use to cure all wounds. Don puts a little of this, a lot of that, and a pinch of whatever that is into a bottle and sips. A few hours later, he wakes up covered in vomit, but feeling much better. Sancho takes the brew, but doesn’t throw up. Don suspects that the potion works on knights but not squires. The next day, the duo leave the castle, but are stopped by the innkeeper. Don finds out that this castle is simply an inn and refuses to pay, hurling insults as he rides away. Sancho also refuses to pay, so he’s stuffed into a blanket, but gets away. He’s super excited, not knowing that his saddlebags were taken. Sancho complains that he keeps getting hurt, but don sees two dust clouds and knows automatically that thy must be two armies about to battle, despite sancho’s insisting that the clouds are from two flocks of sheep. Don has problems. Goodnight.
I have been reading the book, taken. its about a girl who is kidnapped by a group paramedics. She flashes back many times to happy times. she even had classes back in her school about kidnapping because there were so many. she lived in the safest neighborhood in the usa and still got kidnapped as she would call it.

Dear taken girl(your name is never mentioned),
As always i put myself in your position and talk. If i were you i wouldnt care if i got shot leaving the ambulance. You knw that they probably wont do anything because if they do the deal will be off and they dont get money. also, how many people can an ambulance hold five or six. there’s not that many so i would atleast make a break for it. if they shoot you, they shoot you. theyre not going to make you suffer so it will either be a one shot one kill or they just dont shoot at all. boo yah. i may have just saved the day for you. but theres still a whole lot of reading to be done so i will soon find out if you follow my advice.
Wednesday
i think that the reasoning of this book was to tell the reader to always be prepared. dont go into anyones car if you dont know them. if an ambulance comes make sure that your mom, dad, or guardian goes with you. make sure to check the ambulance’s personel license. remember to alwyas be prepared and never ever go into an ambulance. tell the driver that you want to ride with your parent. also, if an ambulance comes to your house for no reason and says that they got a phone call that the girl is sick, this is for you parents, dont let em go.
Thursday
i think that this book compares pretty well to the movie taken. who knows if they made the book or movie about one or the other. they both have basically the same plot. plot is the things that happen in a story. i saw the movie and the girl is kidnapped at the beginning. its the same for the book. but the story in the movie is told from the dad and the book is told from the girl. in the book the girls dad is hardly ever home but in movie the dad takes action and saves the girl. the thing the story is about is being kidnapped and they both have that in common.
