i don’t want a lot for Christmas, just a bunch of Buffy wear…

happy out of school (yes, sixth grade, you must blog all during Christmas or else you will fail winter break – and no college will ever accept you if you fail winter break…)

“a snicker of magic” – like another elem BOB last year – folksy southern book – the main characters are sixth grade – i would think sixth graders could enjoy the book – definitely elem kids – it was enjoyable – i actually contacted the publisher after reading it

“elvis and the underdogs” – not a great title/book match – the cover wasn’t either – but a decent read – the dog’s voice allowed the author to have a smart-ical character in the book – although, the fourth grader was really bright – i guess i’ve been out of school so long that i “forget” how cruel kids can be – b/c there were several times in this book when i stopped and thought that teachers/kids wouldn’t let the abuse go on that went on in the book – maybe i just live in a happy bubble world…

“organic creativity” – my happy bubble world includes lots of new creative ideas for the classroom thanks to this book – things like fantasy teams for Shakespeare, Celeb Duels

“nazi hunters” – closed high school BOB with a fascinating read – the true-life story of a group of men’s dedication to the prosecution of a nazi government official – who got to live 17 years later than the six million people he killed – the wheels of justice can be slow to turn, but they do turn

merry Christmas – of course

  1. i looked for victoria at the playground today at elem – and for detective at the library – and then for 14 fibs at the library – li’l bri hid it very, very well – i had to ask the librarian for help – which was good b/c no one was there – customerwise – even at nearly 11 am – and then lo and behold, we go back to the section and it had appeared – so maybe a 15 fib book…

  2. I’m watching Sherlock and he hung a dummy from a ceiling because he was bored .. Ineed to try that one day…

  3. i rewatching buffy – this time with commentary – all the writers loved principal snyder – they wanted to bring him back – even after they killed him

  4. i’m thinking about reading parts of my princess sarah elizabeth book aloud as a podcast – that people could subscribe to on itunes – a different chapter or so every week-ish – thoughts???

  5. Christmas Eve= Guy’s Grocery Games Marathon! (Oh yeah and my night before scholars bowl tournament story, that could be interesting)

  6. I would buy that!! Speaking of iTunes I got a Fifty dollar card for that and have no clue what to buy any suggestions?? By the way Merry Christmas Mayfieldian children!!

  7. merry christmas to detective, scholar no. 1 billy (all i want for scholar’s bowl is to destroy omms, all of mountain brook, and much of the greater hoover area), and victoria

and the rest – even fred – probably currently online waiting for tickets to open up for 1D’s summer tour

  8. I seriously have no clue what to buy….I would follow Sarah’s lead but her songs are dirty..

  9. victoria – sarah’s songs are totally not cool – at all

i’m checking out itunes as we speak – i miss cover album art though from the old cd’s

  10. First 1D song downloaded, reason for a party? I think so. Steal my Girl. That’s what’s up.

  11. Yeah Old time music is Amazibg to me! I love listening to it and seeing how different it is compared to now because it’s nice to see how “clean” the songs that were risky back then are now a days..

  12. oh victoria, songs back in the day were just as dirty – at least, that’s most of what briarwood taught me

(we actually had a music unit in seventh grade and looked at the “evils” of rock music – i know a whole lot – lots of funny stories there – one, that we would watch this guy on video talking about groups i’d never heard of – and saying the music was bad:)

billy, glad you joined the cult – i’m thinking field trip this summer to watch iD – after we win nationals, of course

meanwhile, i’m listening to bluegrass this Christmas – which, by the way, is very much a first

  13. First time in forever I’m actually on the blog. And may I add that eleven hour car rides are not fun. Had to go to to morgantown wv. I finished all of my harry potter books 🙁

  14. We are down in Florid, but LEGOLAND is a repeat for me. Harry Potter tomorrow! Got to get a blundger, a bludger bat, and a snitch to complete my Quidditich set. And just to be clear,we are talking about national finals in dallas right?

  15. yes billy, we talkin’ nationals – if we can rebound from thompson:)

i’m jealous about the potter visit – developed after my days in o-town – my sister has expressed much interest in running the disney marathon – i think it sort of ruins disney

jason – brrr – but congrats on the potter books – i finished terrestria – or the part i have – i loved that queen skylar died a horrible, horrible death – oops, spoiler…

  16. I’m about to head out to my Mom’s, Mom’s house in the farms and barns of Cullman Alabama for a late Christmas Celebration. I will see cousins and Aunts and Uncles of which I barely know. So wish me good luck because my iPod is going to be sick of me by the end of the trip…

  17. victoria – your ipod could never get sick of you:) so long as you haven’t downloaded sarah’s trashy music

detective – if it’s longer, i refuse to read it unless there’s more romance between the unseelies and the seelies – ya see???

  18. However I returned from the farms and barns feeling good with a Yahoo in my hand and gifts upon my back 🙂
