“Impossible Creatures” by Rundell – wonderful book – really good YA – predictable but I could see where it was described as Harry Potter-esque
“Something Lost, Something Gained” by HRC – good – insightful – my mom read this one and Bill’s book in the same week – she liked this one better – which was funny b/c I liked the other one better:)
“Taylor Swift By the Book” – Felder – this one got me ready for Tortured Poets – I laxed in getting it when it came out – it was an entertaining read
“The Art of Power” by Pelosi – sad book just for the introduction which was about the attack on her husband – I didn’t know her story though – so it was good
“David and Goliath” by Gladwell – had a parent get this one for me – it was a re-read from when it came out – there were things I remembered – still, good to re-read
“Homestand” by Will Borden Werper – about baseball leaving a town – pro baseball – and the college team that filled it – was very interesting on many levels
“Neurodiversity-Affirming Schools” – Kircher-Morris and Morin – had a great conversation with my assistant coach about aspects of this book
“Karma is a Cat” by Jacobs – everything you wanted to know about TS’s cats
“The Connection Driven Classroom” by Curtis – needed a filler book between books – meh
“Outsider” by Popplewell – definitely, definitely one of the best books I read all year – really good – and demonstrates the power of writing – why we write stories – what we preserve when we do
“A Brief History of Intelligence” by Bennet – way over my head – but I appreciated the read – I learned a lot – it is amazing – and humbling – to think of how long it took to get to this point in human history – makes you realize how small you are
“Every Valley” by Charles King – good one on Handel’s Messiah – and the history behind it – one of the top books I read this year
“Citizen” by Bill Clinton – what he’s done post presidency – lots of names and people – and a description where we are politically
“A Giant Among Giants” by Chris Huff – biography on Willie McCovey – Mobilian
“A Time for Reflection” by Jason Cannon – biography on Billie Williams and Willie McCovey – both Mobilians – 1960s era baseball – so good conversations I could have with my dad
“Long Mile Home” Helman and Russell – Boston Globe writers – story of the 2013 marathon bombing – I read the book when it came out in 2014 – I got the book from the public library for a quarter last year – put off reading it until now – was a great read – and I looked up the people impacted 12 years ago – it can be hard to maintain hope when the spotlight is away – it was encouraging to read that those people were still battling
