This is my seventh year to teach at Forest Oaks Elementary School and my fifth year to be with First Grade. I graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Early Childhood Education and soon after graduation, I began teaching preschool at an Early Learning Center in Birmingham, AL. After two years at the ELC, I moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma for a year of service with an AmeriCorps Program called City Year. I served in a middle school working with 8th graders as a literacy coordinator, mentor, and tutor in reading and math. I loved my experience in OK, but was happy to complete my year of service and move back to sweet home Alabama. I am recently married and we are expecting our first child this October. I will do my best to set the routines and procedures in order for my long term substitute to easily transition into our classroom and then I will transition back to school after my maternity leave is over sometime in January. This upcoming year is going to be so different than previous years, but I strongly believe in communication and teamwork with the parents of my students. With those two things mixed with a good attitude and a lot of hard work, we can accomplish a lot! I am looking forward to a very successful year!
