Tens Go Fish is a great game to practice making tens. Practice this game or the others nightly.
Welcome to 2nd Grade and Mrs. Brown’s 2014-2015 class!
I hope that you had a great summer. If you are like me, I wish it were a little longer, but we will make the best of it. I’m looking forward to getting to know you and your parents.
So what can you expect for this year? Well, lots of fun learning. I love to learn new things and I hope that you will too. Some things may be easy for you and some things might be a challenge. Everyone learns differently, and we can learn from each other. The key is to never give up!
What if I don’t know anyone in the class? That’s OK. We will all get to know each other. By the end of the year, you will know each other very well.
What kind of teacher is Mrs. Brown? I’m consistent. We will make rules for the class during the first few days. One rule that I will suggest is: work at work time, play at playtime. You will be expected to follow all the rules. That will not be hard to do at all. Just remember “The Golden Rule,” treat others the way you want to be treated. There are consequences for whatever we do. If you follow the rules the consequences are that you will be fine. If you don’t follow the rules the consequences are that you will get a conduct mark and or lose a privilege.
I hope to see you all on Meet the Teacher Day, Wednesday, August 6, 2014 8:00-8:45 a.m. Come to the cafeteria first for a few comments from Ms. Cooper, and then proceed to the classroom.
Parents, please plan on coming to Parent Academy August 21, 2014 6:30-8:00 p.m. This is for adults only so that I can give you more details about the school year. Bring your questions with you, and I will do my best to answer.

To my new students, welcome to Second Grade! This will be a great year of fun learning. Just ask any of my former students. A few important things to know about your new year with me:
üAlways try hard
üListen to what others have to say
üHave great behavior
üBe willing to learn
Don’t worry, you will be amazing!
Parents remember to get your children back on regular schedules before the start of school (regular bedtimes, great eating habits, uninterrupted reading time, writing about daily life, listening and following instructions, etc.). This will help your child to have a smooth transition for the beginning of school.
