MHS News 4/24/2014

Cheerleader try-outs have been postponed until May 2. Sign-up deadline extended
until April 28th. Packets available in the main office.
This is a reminder that ACT testing will resume today. Please review the coverage plan that was emailed to you yesterday afternoon. The bells will be off and the library will be closed.
Juniors: Ms. Allen would like to thank you for the maturity and perseverance you showed during yesterday’s ACT test session. Your effort and cooperation was truly appreciated.
Please make sure that we have your correct address on file with Ms. Lamonica. Final
reports cards & summer registration info will be mailed home.
AP Students: Remember that TOMORROW is the deadline to submit your early dismissal permission forms to Ms. Allen. AP Fees are also past due!
Teachers and Students: End of Course Testing will take place with English 10 on
Monday and Algebra I & IB on Tuesday. All students enrolled in these classes must
participate in testing!
Attention Seniors: You should have received your cap & gown picture proofs either today or tomorrow from Mr. Galloway. Please remember that the deadline to return the proofs, along with your order form and money, if you purchase any, is Wednesday, April 30th. If not returned by that date, you will not receive your picture package by the end of the school year. You may give your order to Ms. Ham or Mrs. Eades.

Boys Basketball tryouts for the MHS Junior Varsity and Varsity Teams for the 2014-15 season will be held on Wednesday, April 23 and Thursday, April 24 from 3:30 – 5:30pm at the High School Gym. You must see Coach Dickinson to sign up BEFORE Friday, April 18.
Future Teachers Officer Applications are due by April 23rd. See Mrs. Cabrera
On Wed., April 23, all juniors will take the ACT +Writing. This is a state assessment an every 11th grade student will participate. There will be a mandatory
pre-test session on Monday, April 21 during 2nd period in the cafeteria. Students must   participate in the pre-session in order to test on Wed.
A copy of the cell phone policy will be given to each student

Attention AP Students: The AP Pre-Session will be held today during 4th period in the cafeteria. Any student currently enrolled in an AP class must take part in the pre-session.

1) First priority seating is reserved for Seniors! Underclassmen may fill in after that. Lunch teachers will determine which privileged students are allowed to sit outside.
2) Keep the area clean! Each lunch session should clean up their trash. Any trash left outside at the end of the lunch period will result in a loss of privilege to eat outside the next “pretty” day.

Attention Juniors: Montevallo High currently does not have an Alabama Boys State or Alabama Girls State repre-sentative. We have too many talented leaders in our school for us not to be represented at these programs this sum-mer. Interested students should see Ms. Allen as soon as possible.

Today at 8:30 a.m., all GRC Juniors will meet with a representative from the University of Montevallo to learn more about the benefits UM offers GRC students. Teachers will be sent the list of eligible students.
Attention Juniors: Montevallo High currently does not have an Alabama Boys State or Alabama Girls State repre-sentative. We have too many talented leaders in our school for us not to be represented at these programs this sum-mer. Interested students should see Ms. Allen as soon as possible.

Mrs. Hinton will host a study session to review for the AP Language exam today from 3:00 -6:00 pm. The pur-pose is to deconstruct the mock exam for those who missed last Saturday’s session. Other AP Language students may attend for extra credit.

Students in grades 9 & 11 have been chosen to participate in a voluntary PRIDE questionnaire on April 16.
Information letters are being sent home with your student explaining the survey. You may opt to send a refusal for your child’s participation. This refusal must be in writing to the main office before April 15th.

Students: Please remember that all fees must be paid by 3 pm today. This is especially important for seniors, and includes any AP, course, or library fees you may owe.
Students in grades 9 & 11 have been chosen to participate in a voluntary PRIDE questionnaire on April 16. Information letters are being sent home with your student explaining the survey. You may opt to send a refusal for your child’s participation. This refusal must be in writing to the main office before April 15th.
Attention National Art Honor Society members: if you plan on attending the Sloss Furnace field trip on April 30th all forms and money are due by this Friday. If we do not have at least 15 people to go we will have to cancel the field trip
Juniors: The final Blueprints session will take place today during 7th period in the cafeteria. The Blueprints Field Trip to Troy University will take place on Monday. Teachers, you have been emailed a list of participants. Students, please remember to dress appropriately and be prepared to show Troy that WE ARE MONTEVALLO!

Seniors: The Beta Mu Nu Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is awarding (4) $250 textbook scholarships to deserving high school students in the Shelby County community who have demonstrated academic achievement and who have been ambassadors for serving the less fortunate in their community. See Ms. Allen for an application. The deadline is April 30.
Students: Please remember that all fees must be paid by tomorrow. This is especially important for seniors, and includes any AP, course, or library fees you may owe.
