MHS News 1/30/2015

Srs: a $30 deposit for your Six Flags Trip & permission forms are due to Mrs. Eades by 3 pm TODAY!

SGA will meet today during 7th in Mrs. Pastor’s class for Career Day Planning. All members are expected to attend.

The Montevallo Day of Pageants will be held Saturday, Feb. 21. If you are interested in becoming the next Mr. or Miss MHS please come by the office and get an entry form or see Mrs. Turner in room 201. All entry forms and payments must be turned in by Friday, Feb. 13. All girls and boys in grades 9-12 may participate.

Juniors and Seniors: A representative from the University of South Alabama will be on campus today during 7th period in the library. Interested students should sign up in the guidance office.

Juniors: UM will host its Spring College Fair on Friday, Feb. 13 for 11th grade students. Permission forms can be picked up outside Ms. Allen’s door and must be returned by Tuesday, Feb. 10. This will be a great opportunity to begin your college search!

Teachers and Students: All seniors will participate in the statewide administration of the WorkKeys Assessment on Feb. 3 & 4. Groups and lab assignments will be posted by the end of the week.

Attention students: MHS is considering offering an after school credit recovery program this semester that will be a fraction of the cost of summer school. However, we must first determine how many students would be interested in participating before making any definite plans. Therefore, interested students and parents will need to submit an Interest Application to Ms. Allen by Friday, Feb. 6. Forms can be picked up in the main office or guidance office.

Support MHS News and buy a 2015 COUPONS FOR CLASSROOMS book for just $20. The book includes hun-dreds of coupons from businesses throughout Shelby County. Books will be on sale through Friday, February 13.

Auditions for the Shelby County Poetry Players will be held during 7th period on Wednesday and Thursday, February 4 and 5, 2015. New Poetry Players will be announced February 6thShow off your acting skills by auditioning with a prepared poem or monologue that is no longer than 2 minutes. After school rehearsals begin mid-February and will last until first week of April. Interested actors should pick up an audition form from Mrs. Hinton before February 4th.

Come out to Chub’s Grub in Alabaster on February 10 from 5-9 to support the MHS cheerleaders.

UM News 1/30/2015

Inaugural UM softball game now scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 31
Due to the forecast of inclement weather, the inaugural softball game at the University of Montevallo will now be played on Saturday, Jan. 31.
Opening Day festivities, with promotional giveaways and photo opportunities with Freddie the Falcon, will begin at noon. First pitch at the new University of Montevallo Softball Stadium at Orr Park is set for 1 p.m. Softball is just one of three exciting athletics events Saturday. The Falcons also have a basketball doubleheader at Trustmark Arena, with the women taking on Armstrong State University at 1:30 p.m. and the men’s game beginning at 3:30 p.m. During halftime of the men’s game, Montevallo will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of men’s basketball, along with recognizing the eight inductees that comprise the University of Montevallo Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2015.
Make plans on Saturday to be a part of one of the biggest moments in the history of University of Montevallo athletics.
