MHS News 4/28/2016

Congratulations to CD Lawley and Tamera Fletcher for representing MHS in their nominations for students of the year at the Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce luncheon. At the same event, Ms. Cabrera won the overall prize for Teacher of the Year! Please congratulate them for their great accomplishments!

Ok students, now is the time to knock the teachers down from their title! Faculty/ Student Basketball game is back on! Wednesday, May 4. $5.00 to play and must be turned in to Coach D by Tuesday.

If you are interested in running for an SGA Office or as a class representative, you must come to an informational meeting in Mrs. Pastor’s room TODAY during 7th period!

Future Teachers officer applications are due TOMORROW.

Still need some service hours for the Give Me Five requirement? Come to the Annual MHS Day of Service Saturday from 8am – 12pm. If you work all four hours, you will complete your full Give Me Five requirement. There will be food, gift card drawings, and of course a variety of projects for you to engage in to help your school and community!

There will be an informational meeting today during 7th period in the library for anyone interested in the Student Athletic Training Program for next year.

AP Students: Remember that your AP Early Dismissal Permission Forms are due to Ms. Allen TOMORROW. No exceptions!

MHS will have an Alumni Basketball game on May 7 at 6pm in Susie Dement Gymnasium. See Coach Grayson for more information

There will be an indoor soccer tournament during 7th and 8th period TOMORROW. See Coach Harvie to sign up and receive information. It will cost $4 to play and $2 to watch.

Future Teachers – See Mrs. Cabrera for officer applications. Applications are due by Friday.

Still need some service hours for the Give Me Five requirement? Even if the deadline has passed, you can still get yours in! Come to the Annual MHS Day of Service Saturday from 8am – 12pm. If you work all four hours, you will complete your full Give Me Five requirement. This is a hands-on camp featuring welding, carpentry, electrical and other construc-tion specialties. ‘Girls Can’ camp is a great chance to learn a new set of skills and make new friends. This year, you will be building an Adirondack chair, a sprinkler, an industrial-style lamp, and welding metals together to form a piece of art. You will be working side by side with professional women in completing your projects and meeting women who do some pretty amazing things in their jobs. Pick up an application from your counselor, complete it, and return it to your counselor. Application deadline is April 29th. Make this summer one to remember and don’t miss this great opportunity. See your counselor today for more information!”

*Attention Juniors: The statewide ACT +Writing will be administered on Tues., April 19 to all 11th grade students. You are encouraged to get to school on time and be ready to test. Remember also that cell phones and digital devices will not be allowed in the test site and the policy will be strongly enforced. Your teachers can give you information on your testing locations. Srs. will have an opportunity to check in at 10:30 on this day… The only seniors who will have permission to check in at 10:30 are those with zero first term and 3rd nine week fail-ures and fewer than 10 unexcused absences. Only those students will be placed on the sign-in sheet. The list will be updated today and you must check with Ms. Lamonica during 7th period to determine if you are on the list or not.

The Montevallo Moonlight Players present Murder on Sorority Row tonight at 7 pm Tickets will be $5 and help support theatre at Montevallo High School.

Remember also that cell phones and digital devices will not be allowed in the test site and the policy will be strongly enforced. Your teachers can give you information on your testing locations. Srs. will have an opportunity to check in at 10:30 on this day… The only seniors who will have permission to check in at 10:30 are those with zero first term and 3rd nine week fail-ures and fewer than 10 unexcused absences. The MHS Chess Club is proud to sponsor the very first Montevallo Community-wide Evening of Chess on Monday, April 18, 2016. We invite chess enthusiasts of all ages to join us for some friendly games within the Montevallo High Media Center beginning at 4 P.M. and ending at 6 P.M.
