MHS News 9/27/2018

Attention Juniors: Remember that your Youth Leadership Shelby County Applications are due to the program by Oct.1!

There will be an FBLA Meeting TODAY at 3:10 pm.
FCCLA will meet immediately after school TODAY in Mrs. Carter’s room.
Orders for senior portraits will be taken Monday, October 1st from 7-8:30 in the cafeteria.

Tickets to the Homecoming Dance will be sold during lunch today! TODAY will be the last day to purchase. Dance will be held tomorrow night from 7-11 in the gymnasium.

Attention Sophomores and Juniors: Students can now begin signing up to take the PSAT on Oct. 10. For juniors, the PSAT is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program. The cost is $16 and space is limited, so see Ms. Allen by Wed., Oct. 3 to secure your test seat.

TOMORROW is the deadline to pay and order your homecoming shirts!! Generic shirts that have no date for sale through the main office. Cost for all shirts is $15

Congratulations to William Landers for being nominated to attend the University of Alabama Capstone Leadership Academy.

FFA will be hosting a Welcome Cook-out TONIGHT at 6:00 pm for any freshman interested in becoming a FFA Member

Montevallo’s Homecoming Dance will be held Friday Night from 7-11 in the gymnasium to kick-off Homecoming. Tickets are $10 and sold during lunch.

Attention Seniors: The Fall College fair at UM will be held on Oct. 1. Please remember to submit your permission forms to Ms. Allen by Tues.

Please support SGA and show school spirit by buying a Homecoming shirt! Shirts are $15 and are different comfort colors per grade. All shirts have the same design, but the colors are different for each grade. If you would like a grade level one, please let Mrs. Pastor know and she will direct you to the grade level sponsor who is receipting money. We will have a comfort color shirt for sale that has no date on it if you would prefer. Order these through the main office with Mrs. Majors.

CONGRATULATIONS to the JV and Varsity volleyball for their area win over Indian Springs last night!

Students: The Montevallo Police Department has asked that we inform you that the parking on Bloch, Plowman, and Wadsworth Streets
are zoned for specific permits given to residents living in those areas. Students that park on those streets will risk a potential ticket being
issued.

formal. Tickets are $10 and sold during lunch. All ticket purchasers this week will have their names in a drawing for a $25.00 gift card to Zappopan’s. So buy those tickets before Friday!

Students interested in applying for Homecoming Court need to pick up an application packet from Mrs. Fricke, room 115. Applications are due Friday, September 21.

Softball evaluations will be Sept. 24, 25, & 26 @ 6 pm. All physical and insurance forms must be turned in to Coach Poe TODAY. Girls basketball tryouts will be TODAY from 3:00-6:00.

Attention Students: Brookwood Baptist Health will be offering its Learning for Life Exploring program for students interested in learning more about medical careers. The informational meeting will be held next Tuesday and the fee is $35. See Ms. Allen for more info.

Attention Students: The NACAC College Fair will be held at the BJCC on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. This is a free event and you are encouraged to register online at gotomyncf.com

This years Homecoming court will be announced at the dance in addition to a Dance off and several other fun competitions with a live DJ.

Attention Sophomores: The University of Alabama will be hosting the Capstone Leadership Academy for outstanding 10th grade student leaders. You must have a min. 3.0 GPA. See Ms. Allen if you’d like to be considered for nomination.

Attention Seniors: The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is sponsoring its annual International High School Essay Contest and scholarship awards will range from $1000-$5000. Visit the Counselor’s Corner blog for more info and entry requirements. The contest closes Oct. 19.
