Attention Students: The Equal Justice Initiative is offering scholarship prizes to Shelby County students in grades 9-12 who submit winning essays for their Racial Justice Essay Contest. The entry deadline is March 20. See your English teacher or visit Ms. Allen’s Counselor’s Corner Blog for more info.

Cheerleading tryouts will be held Friday, March 20th from 3:30 pm until each girl finishes. Clinic will be held March 16th-19th in the MHS gym from 3:15-5:00. If anyone is interested in trying out for cheer, please get a packet from Ms. Beck.

There will also be an interest meeting on Tuesday, February 18th at 6:00 pm in the MHS library for any students interested and their parents. All tryout paperwork and fees are due Monday, March 2nd to Ms. Beck in order to be eligible to tryout.

Attention Girls in Grades 9 & 10: Registration is now open for Girls Can Camp! It is a summer construction camp for girls that features carpentry, welding, pipefitting, and electrical fields. It will be held June 8 – 12 at CTech in Columbiana. Pick up an application from the guidance suite.

ARCHERY PRACTICE CANCELED today.

Softball game today @ 5pm

Congratulations to the boys soccer team for their big win in the first leg of the Holt Townsend Tournament. The boys are at the top of table and the girls team is tied for second in their seed. Go Dawgs!

Congratulations to Campbell Cost, and Melissa Scott for winning their singles matches and to Tyti Harris and Leslie Langley for winning their doubles match against Leeds last night. Several other players were in contention to win when an electrical issue caused the lights to go out. Good job team!

Congrats to our boys basketball for their victory over Handley last night! They advance to Sweet 16 Monday in Montgomery against Lamp High School.

There will be NO ARCHERY PRACTICE this Friday, February 13th. For more information, contact Mr. Martin.

With Valentine’s Day approaching, please note that under no circumstances are deliveries of any kind accepted at the school for students!

The Montevallo Bulldogs will play tonight in the area championship game tonight against Childersburg @6:30. Tickets will be $6. NO PASSES IN or OUT! Come out and support your dawgs!

With flu season upon us, MHS will be accepting donations of hand sanitizer, Kleenex, Lysol spray & Lysol wipes. Please drop off in the main office. Thanks to those who have already donated!

Model UN team members need to see Ms. Pastor this week to pay your $25 Conference fee and to pick up important forms and handouts needed for the Conference. There is a mandatory meeting at 3pm on Monday February 10th in Ms. Pastor’s room for all Team members.

The MHS Care Club is accepting donations of crayons in the cafeteria. These will go to Children’s Hospital for Crayons for a Cure.
