DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

*Character Education Theme for the Week: Self Respect

*Announcements:

*All students interested in joining the MMS Chess Team need to bring their permission forms by today to Mrs. Sapp. The first Chess Club Meeting will be Wednesday morning before school.

*Today will be COTS. We will be on an activity schedule. If you owe missing work, you will be assigned intervention and not be able to attend COTS.

The first dance will be next Thursday, October 5^th from 3-5pm. The cost will be $5.00.  You must have your parents pick you up by 5pm in order to stay.

* Keep selling the recipe flip books.  The cost is $8.00 for each recipe book. The highest sales in each grade level will receive a prize. Any student who sells at least 2 books, will receive two tardy to class passes.  Also keep turning in your box tops.

Both of the Lady dawgs teams defeated the wildcats of Columbiana last night.  The seventh grade team gave up the first game 27-25, then won the second game easily 25-13.  The 7th graders came from behind to take the tie-breaker in a 17-15 victory.  Kailey Boyd was 100% from the line with 19 for 19.  Hannah Locks also served a great game with 12 out of 15 with 6 of those being ACES and 7 of those in a row in the tie-breaker match to help the team fight back for the win.  Teasia Purnell put away 2 KILLS and Paige Johnson also added a KILL.

The 8th grade team came out growling and took the first game 25-17.  They lost a close 23-25 second game, but battled for the tie-breaker and remained victorious with a 15-10 game to win the 2 out of 3 match – Can I get a woof woof!

Allie Tryon once again led the team with 13 out of 15 serves and 6 of those were BULLET ACES, and she also scored 2 KILLS.  Bre Jenkins also served a great game with 13 out of 14 serves.  Alyssa Craig had a stellar game with 7 out of 10 serves and 2 KILLS.  But the secret weapon of the night was Fatima Guteirrez who served 100% 9 for 9 coming off the bench to secure the win!  Way to be a team player Fatima!!!

Way to go lady dawgs!  You have one more chance to see the team in action next Thursday at home vs. West Blocton at 5.

*Tonight the Marching Troubadours compete in the Showcase of Bands.

*The Lady Dawgs defeated Isabella in 2 straight games last night at MHS.  Allie Tryon led all servers with 100% 6 for 6, while Dani Blake contributed 5 for 5.  Teasia Purnell added 4 for 5 service points.

In the second game, Allie Tryon scored 5 of her 6 KILLS for the night and served 9 out of 10.  Dani Blake remained a 100% from the service line with 4 out of 4 in this game winning 25-20. Way to go Lady Dawgs!!!

The team plays again this Thursday with 7th graders playing at 5 and 8th graders playing at 6.  Come watch some volleyball!!!

*The Lady Dawgs pounced on the Panthers Monday in a 2 game sweep.  MMS won the first game 25-12 and Dani Blake led all servers with 8 out of 9 and Leslie Langley also contributed 6 out of 6 with one of those being an ACE.  Dani also scored a huge KILL which helped put away the VICTORY.

Most of the seventh graders started the second game and still won easily 25-19.  Allie Tryon led servers in this game with 7 out of 8.  Emily Dutton and Teasia Purnell contributed 3 out of 4.

The Volleyball team will play again on Tuesday at MHS at 4pm followed by the JV and Varsity.  The team will play it’s next HOME game at MMS on Thursday against Thorsby at 5.  Come support the Lady Dawgs!!

He was nominated by Mrs. Lewis.  Mrs. Lewis states that Javier demonstrated the character trait of responsibility when he not only cleaned up his own trash at breakfast, but he cleaned up the trash left by the other students at the table.

*MHS Homecoming is tonight. The game begins at7:00pm.  Pre-game activities, including the band performing their half time show, will begin at 6:15pm.

*The Cross Country team will have its first meet on Saturday, September 16^th, at Veteran’s Park.

*School picture day will be on Wednesday, September 20^th, during PE classes.

*Volleyball will have an away game Monday night at Jemison at 5pm. Tuesday night

is a home game at 4 pm against Isabella.  This game will be played at MHS and not MMS.

*The flu vaccine forms that your child brought home with progress reports are due back on Thursday, Oct 5^th .  The flu vaccine will be given on October 20^thduring school.

*Upcoming Events :

*The first MMS dance will be on Thursday, October 5^th, from 3-5pm.  The cost is $5.00 to attend and students must have a parent pick them up at 5pm.

*There will be no school for students on Friday, October 6^th or Monday, October 9^th.

*The MMS Homecoming game will be played on Thursday, October 12^th, at 5:30pm.

*Report Cards will be sent home on Thursday, October 12^th.

*MMS is collecting box tops.  For every 10 box tops that your child brings in, he or she will receive two tardy to class passes.
