*7th Grade Scholars Bowl Practice is cancelled for today and will resume next Wednesday after school until 4:45pm.

*6th grade Scholar’s Bowl will meet today until 4:15 not 5:15.

*After School Tutoring is today and tomorrow.

*Soccer Spirit Pack Forms are due back to Mrs. Thomas today. Soccer conditioning is on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school.

*The BETA Club Induction Ceremony will be tomorrow morning at 8:15am.

*8th grade Scholar’s Bowl Team will meet every morning Mon-Thur in Lab 28 from 7:00-7:30 am starting the week on Nov 12th. See Mrs. Lusco if you have any questions.

*Next Tuesday is Support the MMS Choir at Zaxby’s night from 4-8pm. A portion of the profits go to support the MMS choir so eat dinner at Zaxby’s in Calera.

*Students don’t forget to bring canned goods or toiletry items to donate for Oak Mountain Missions. They are very low on donations this year. Please bring your items to Mrs. Day’s classroom on place in the bins around the school. The individual with the most donations will win a slushie and the grade level with the most will get open seating at lunch.

*Congratulations to the student of the week: Brian Mandujano. He was nominated by Mrs. Miller. Mrs. Miller states that Brian is a bright student who works hard and dedicates himself to doing his best. He is eager to help other students by tutoring them and he provides a helping hand to his teachers. Mrs. Miller enjoys having him as a student in her class.

*The BETA club will be sponsoring a canned food and toiletry drive for Oak Mountain Missions who is low on supplies for the Holidays.  Please bring in any canned or boxed food items, unopened toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, toilet paper etc and bring them to Mrs. Day’s classroom.  Please place them in the grade level boxes and the grade level with the most donations will have open seating at lunch and the individuals who donate the most will get slushies. The deadline for donations is November 9th.

*All athletes and students who are a part of an extra-curricular activity, if you earned a failing grade for the first nine weeks, you must attend after school tutoring with Ms. Dinkins on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:15-4:15. Get forms from Mrs. Dinkins or the office.

*Picture order forms are due back today

*Tryouts and Practice for 7th and 8th grade Scholars Bowl will be held on Monday, October 22nd after school until 4:45pm.  If you plan to stay after school for tryouts, please have your parents pick you up no later than 5pm. See Mrs. Lusco if you have any questions.

MONDAY is Character Day – “Life is a Journey – Be Your Own Character                                                   without Drugs and Alcohol” and Dress as your favorite “character”. TUESDAY is Career Day – “Drugs and Alcohol Can Affect Your Future”.  Dress like someone in your desired career. WEDNESDAY is Pink Out Day. Wear pink. We will have an assembly on Tuesday.

*Keep selling your Nothing Bundt Cakes and turn in any Boxtops for Education you may have.

*There will be a Future Troubadour Camp for MES and MMS students on October 23rd, and October 25th, from 3:15-4:30 at MHS. The cost is $20.00 and includes a T-Shirt. Students participating in the camp will get to march with the high school band at the high school football game on October 26th. This includes students who want to be in the flag corp or a baton twirler.  Contact Mrs. Underwood or Dawn Cabrera for more details. The permission forms are available at MES and MMS.

*All athletes and students who are a part of an extra-curricular activity, if you earned a failing grade for the first nine weeks, you must attend after school tutoring. You can pick up an Academics First form from Ms. Dinkins or in the office and get the form signed by your parents. Tutoring is on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:15-4:15. If you are involved in an extra- curricular activity and want extra help in your classes, you may also attend the Academics First Tutoring with a signed permission form, but it is mandatory for those who failed a class.

*Picture order forms are due back by tomorrow to your 4th period teacher. Make-up picture day will be October 29th.

*This Friday will be LEAD. We will be on an activity schedule.

*All athletes and students who are a part of an extra-curricular activity, if you earned a failing grade for the first nine weeks, you must attend tutoring or you will be subjected to being disqualified from being active in your extracurricular activity. You can pick up an Academics First form from Ms. Dinkins or in the office and get the form signed by your parents. Tutoring is on Tuesday-Wednesday from 3:15-4:15. If you are involved in an extra curricular activity and want extra help in your classes, you may also attend the Academics First Tutoring with a signed permission form, but it is mandatory for those who failed a class.
